Default Advice needed with reckless driving ticket

Those of you who have got reckless tickets in the past, please read this and give me some advice. Here's what happened: I was riding a wheelie at night down a 2 lane road, and a car passed in the opposite direction. Little did I know, it was a cop. He swung a u turn and caught up to me while I was still riding the wheelie. I saw flashing lights coming from behind me so I set it down and pulled over. He told me I'm lucky I'm not getting arrested, etc., etc... I ended up getting 2 tickets. $115 ticket for operating the bike with my headlight off, and a reckless driving for the wheelie. I have 30 days to decide what I'm gonna do about the headlight ticket, and I have to call asap to get a court date for the reckless. These are my first tickets... what do I do?

I've had 2 careless driving tickets in the past year, and I paid them both. In retrospect, I would have fought the first one (the second I admited fault to the cop, which immediately screws you in court). I would call some local traffic lawyers and see what your options are. Just be wary, because when I called 5 of them, you could tell which ones were BS'ing me with the false hope and trying to get my money while the other 2 were be honest and saying I was screwed when I admited fault. Point being, you may have a case depending on the specifics of your case. Check into it, because no Internet message board is going to be able to help you out like a legitimate lawyer.

get a lawyer...I don't see you having much more than a pay the fine or traffic school (if your state allows traffic school for a reckless)

If you got nailed for speeding or something and they went up to reckless then you might be able to shave a few MPH off and get it dropped to speeding 15 over...But that's with a good judge and the right luck

I wish you all the best...I got lucky with mine and a friend that had some pull took care of me.

From what I hear so far, I shouldn't make out too bad seeing how these were my first tickets. I don't think I'm gonna get a lawyer because I'd spend more than I'm trying to save. Oh and the wheelie wasn't even breaking the speed limit. I was rockin it at 45 in a 45 zone.

I think you should look into the lawyer, here in NY that is a criminal charge. You def. dont want that to stick...Good layer= a lot of money but little trouble!....Good luck bro. Do the crime pay with time

ok...this happened to me...but i did go to jail...i got
1.wreckless
2.improper tag display (flipped up)
3.no tag light
4.i got a speeding ticket the next day which they tied in with all this

so in the end the judge threw out all the tickets, dropped wreckless to a careless
he told me there would be no points on my license and that all i have to do is take an in class driving course...

Sounds to me like CARELESS driving not RECKLESS driving. In PA there's a difference. You have to put others in harm to get WRECKLESS driving. Careless is just being unsafe to yourself. Careless is $300 and 3 points. Wreckless is $whattheywanttocharge and an instant suspension. I'm fighting one right now and it's pretty $hitty. GET A LAWYER or you coud stand to loose your license.

How were you riding at night without a headlight? You can't turn them off on the 03+ years. Did he not see the headlight because the front end was in the air? If that's the case then I doubt it would stick.
