motorcycle cop

watching the news today and saw a story where a cop on a motorcycle tried to pull over another bike.the other bike ran and blew off a stop sign(got away by the way),well the local hero tried to do the same and wham! hit a pickup.hes in critical condition.do these bike cops think theyre not under the same rules of phyics. the ticket reciever,if hes gonna run hes gonna go for it.but why would a cop who is in is professional relm do something so stupid over a traffic violation,or he just being a prick and messing with him? I dont wanna hear its his job cause im sure safety is is job also.not to mention hows he gonna do his job from the ER. Hate to rag on but this on just hit me on the head and i neede to vent.

That sucks, obviously the cop wasn't being safe enough, especially being on a motorcycle.

I wouldn't expect the guy to give up a chase though. I sure as hell wouldn't, but I guess it depends on the situation.

i'm not from the US but i thought you guys had laws where cops aren't supposed to chase for traffic violations.. too dangerous to themselves and others. or is that only certain cities/states/situations?

in Canada i've seen cops do really stupid things to catch speeders. they do worse/more dangerous stunts trying to catch people. just a week or two ago a cop ran a light in my city and killed some people. i'm not saying just let people off but they should be able to evaluate the danger and pick thier battles. radios are faster then any car or bike so radio ahead for help.

That is beat into every officers head. Basicly an officer has to make a determination about the risks in relation to the crime. Do all offiicers make the right decision in the situation? No. Chase a car and the only thing that ends up being the reason is a minor traffic violation that results in someone getting seriously injured or killed....then count on being sued. And making that decision is hard when someone takes off on me.

Yup, but just like the guys running, sometimes adrenaline comes into play, shit we all make mistakes on the road. I've almost become flattened a few times because i just didn't see "that person".

But, beyond all that i feel bad for the guy, cop or not hope things work out.

If I was a cop , there would be alot of mofo's happy they got away cause the only thing I'm chasing is a bunch of toppless girls in the bus with beds. Besides that. they can get away. It ain't worth my life , let the captain get them ......
