2 Tickets within 24 hrs of ownership!
Not the way I entended to start out on this board or on motorcycles in general but here it goes.
I bought the bike on July 3, 2003 and on July 4, yea I know stupid I was pulled over for doing 60mph in a 40 zone. Yea no big deal but remember I said, "start out on motorcycles?" Thats right no license, not even a permit. I was almost thrown in jail and had the bike, with paper tag impounded. Luckily the officer was somewhat leanient after all he was on a Harley.
He gave me a ticket for the speed, wow big deal its my 10th and I also have to appear in criminal court for riding without a license. I plan on the "selfishness and excitement defense" and I have since obtained my full motorcycle endorsement and full insurance (comp/collision and liability). I hope I don't piss anyone off but its only $116 per 6 mos with $250 ded :WTF , in S. Fla nonetheless!!
Being I haven't gotten a ticket in Broward county, where I have lived for 18yrs since '97 and I now have the license and Ins. and have to me made the situation right I am hoping for a slap on the wrist. I just hope they don't slap my throttle hand!!

WHERE IN HELL DO YOU GET SUCH CHEAP INSURANCE!!!
Really man, I'm paying like $900 every 6 mos. w/ state farm(4 speeding tickets in two years, one was 89 in a 45... hmmm, maybe that's why it's so high for me...)
Good luck in court.

Re: 2 Tickets within 24 hrs of ownership!
Florida's rules are there aren't any. If you own it outright you don't need collison/comprehensive nor liability. I feel if you don't have atleast liability you are risking alot. My liability limits are 50k/100k and I also have both comp/collision all three have a $250 deductable. Also in Florida if you have atleast $10k in medical ins. you don't have to wear a helmet.....um stupid.
I have State Farm ins. though an agency on Wiles Road in Coral Springs (Broward County). If anyone is interested in their phone # send me an email to tractionless@ieathondas.com. I don't know why it is so cheap for me the only reasons I can think of is that I am 26 and haven't had a ticket in Broward County since 1997. I do have 9 total speeding tickets though. Funny thing is they said they couldn't touch the rate I have for car ins?!?!

Re: 2 Tickets within 24 hrs of ownership!
i pay 980 for 12 months. Im 19, no riding experience. Most places quoted me about 3500 for a year, up to 5000 for a year. Well, Its very simple. I went to "A Great Rate Insurance" company. Very small / new / shady place just trying to make some business. So, I told him I had 7 years of dirtbike experience, so he said "that counts as 3 years on the street". My dad also got put on the policy (30+ years experience, but he dosnt even have his M license cause he hasnt rode in about 10 years). I got a ticket (89 in a 55) and my dad had a small one. This is full coverage also w/ 500 deductable. Now your prob saying, there going to take my money and run, well.. they do motorcycle insurnace throgh foremost, so foremost is my insurance company, they hole-in-the-wall place is just the agent. On my insurance sheet it just says the bike is a yamaha, but has the correct VIN. :metal

Re: 2 Tickets within 24 hrs of ownership!
Update on Court Procedings
Went to court yesterday for my arraingment. Damn what a bunch of scumbags there. There were 166 defendants, it took 3hrs for my name to be called all so I can give my 30second plea. I pled no contest to speeding and driving without a motorcycle endorsement.
Before I get to $$$ I want to tell you all that in Florida effective July 1, 2003 (lucky me) the judge cannot waive court costs. Misdeamenor court costs folks are $175, yep that is $175 just to show up and give up 3hrs of your day.
So I was called and I have since got my license and ins. and gave the info to the judge. He gave me an IOU to pay to the court $225. Thats $175 for the court costs, $50 for the speeding, 3 points. So get your damn permits atleast before you ride, I got caught like a moron within 24 hrs. Learn from me please!!
BTW next time.................there is no next time, if you catch my drift. :metal

Damn 175 court cost, oh and BTW you didnt even have to show up in court, you could have mailed the information in with an affidavit of defense. But geeze I have to goto court in August and I dont want to pay that, its more than the damn ticket, I had better get off.
