Civil Infraction Stories - Michigan, et al.

>: I got pulled over one week ago today. For the first time, except for the other cop who told me one of my 03 headlights was out:cuss . The Michigan State Police said they "Paced 85 " NO RADAR. The 3 of us only hit it for a second if at all! Traffic was heavy and he had to have been at least 10 seconds behind us. Got my first ticket for 80/70 and 1 pt. Worried about insurance going up and furious because I was profiled.

I would rather have been going 80ish and gotten tagged. Would be less of a headache and easier to sleep.

My 2 buddies are going to take it to court. I don't have time to go back up to Grand Rappids and fight. I'm going to send in a letter to the court (admit guilt w/explanation) and hope to at least reduce $95 b/c I'm broke while going to school:cuss

check out ticketassasin.com(sp?) i believe you can plead not guilty through a letter. if the cop doesn't write a letter himself then you are to be found innocent and have all the charges dropped.
also i suggest you make some time because if the three of you go into court together against 1 cop, its 3 people's words against his.
no radar, meaning he had to have been pacing you and if traffic was heavy then there is no way in hell he could have kept a constant pace. Also, you mentioned you did not have time, i would have suggested traffic school.
no points, no insurance hike. making time from school IMO is more important then having to deal with a higher insurance rate.
Also in some parts of california, you can take online traffic school, dont know if you cna do that in michigan but worth a try. good luck

I'm in Kalamazoo, and got a speeding ticket in my car on 131 for 10 over. I checked my insurance the other day and found out that they don't count that ticket against me for some reason. I think it has to do with the fact that it was on the highway??? Atleast thats what the insurance rep told me.

You might want to try to fight it through the mail though like the other guy suggested. I don't know if we have the option of driving school like some others though.

it's called a trial by written declaration and it improves your chances of winning or getting a reduced sentence a whole lot more than showing up.

so who's all from kalamazoo?? i'm in kalmazoo and i have a black toyota supra. i'm getting the 04 R6 in silver when it comes out. i already have my down payment on it and my friend is picking up his 04 R6 on wed. my friend has an o3 R6 in silver and black. sorry to get off topic but was wondering who's from k-zoo so i can find more people to ride with.

no i don't have blonde hair. what do you mean mess with your buddies? as in trying to race em? if that's it i know i would get beat badly on the street but on the highway i beat my friends 03 R6. i was probably trying to see what kind of bike it was. no hard feelings on this end if you meant something else.

Lot of Michigan people here. Gesh, I never knew. I'm from Battle Creek but not that it matters. I say fight the ticket because your insurance will get crazy high.
