Default bein harassed just because you are a sportbiker

hey everyone....i have my own story, but i was interested in hearin everyone elses, and i know we ALL have them...

but i wanna know everyones story about bein pulled over when you were doin absolutely nothing wrong, except ridin a sport bike

i was out for a ride one day, and know that i was NOT speeding. i saw the cop, and toned it down...but i was comin to a highway intersection where i needed to make a right turn from a city street to a highway, the light was not changing, i had a green...but i decided to take the turn a little hot, but still maintained the speed limit of 30...the highway i was turnin onto had a limit of 55...like i said before, i saw the cop sittin at a red light, and never broke the speed limit....but apearently he thought that i did something wrong and came rollin up on me hot...a few miles down the road, he lit me up and i went through the whole process of runnin my tags, license, and all that...he was tellin me that i made a turn in an unsafe manner, but let me go without writing me any kind of ticket....

i talked to a cop friend of mine who told me that it was someone that was bored, and just figured you would run, giving him something to do...in my opinion, this was harrassment.

just thought i would tell my story, and give everyone a spot to tell similar stories

not my story but i was sorta involved...my bro and neighbor are riding down our street, doing the limit (35) and pull into his driveway when all of a sudden, lights behind them, cops blocks them in the driveway. he says they were flying down teh street, doing near 50, blah blah. they asked how he knew cause obviously they didnt, he said he could tell by the sound of the exhuast. hell, theyre aftermarket, they ALL sound loud like youre flying. he didnt get it so he just ran their paperwork and left. on the side, my OTHER neighbor was working out of his garage and saw this happening, began walking over w/screwdriver in hand, cop grabs for his gun and yells "son, put the screwdriver down and back away into your garage!" haha

Cool

Noisy pipes suk for that reason, they make you sound fast all the time and buzz in your ears and usually make less power-my aka is not buzzy and makes a lot of power-it is a big Ti Muffler-but it also makes the most power-chop a muffler and it makes less power and sounds like shit

A buddy and I trucked our bikes to Vegas for spring break last year. We were riding down the strip and I put my visor up for a about 100 feet because it was fogging up then pulled into a parking lot. 2 bike cops (not motorcycle, but BICYCLE cops) rode up and asked for our registration, insurance, and liscense. We didnt have ins and reg on us, and we dont have to have insurance where we are from, so they gave us a hard time about that. Then they harrased my buddy about not having a fender on the swingarm of his GSXR 750. They don't even come with one! They said if they talked to us again they would impound the bikes.

Shit happens fellas, theres good cops and bad cops. I'm a cop myself, and where I work, pursuing motorcycles is a no-no, unless certain things happen, but those are rare. I'm not going to preach to the choir here, but understand what officers deal with daily, and yes I understand we all signed up for this but it gets to a point where it gets real old real fast. Enough young punks driving around in junkyard worthy hondas, and idiots on suzuki's riding in sandals doing everything they possibly can to get attention. I'm not saying the action the officers took in these stories was justified, but understand deep-down, good hearted cops do not pull certain types of vehicles over because "he wanted to harass you" or "he had nothing better to do".
Let me tell you something about harassing, the last person we feel like dealing with is some stupid ass cocky squid on a bike. Go ahead, break all the laws you want, I'm not the one that has to scrape your dumbass off the side of a semi, thats what EMT's are for. Nothing better to do? Okay you do my 3 hours of paperwork about the dumbass that stole a car, hit 3 parked cars and took out the neighbors dog, only conveniently after he blew a couple very carefully cut lines. While you are doing that I'll go harass all the little law abiding angels on motorcycles. I'll be the first to say, when I pull up next to someone in a nice big truck, clean, well built nice looking car, or a tastefully done up bike, hell even anything stock! I will be the FIRST to throw a compliment and ask about the details. And if I DO pull you over for being an idiot, chances are I'll say get the F out of here and next time look for the little bar on top before you turn the idiot switch on!

ride safe guys.

I got pull over twice last week and as shady as I think it was techinically I was in the wrong. 92 in a 65 and tailgating: I got pulled over by CHP for matching speed with the San Bernadino cop the was in the lane next to me. From the angle he saw us at he thought I was tailgating. Got the talk about speed and safety and then he asked me the car number of the cop that I was next to and let me go without a ticket. Next was 64 in a 40: Now this guy was bored, about 1130 at night no one out clear road at this area were the speed limit drops, he was hanging right after the sign. Pulls me asks if I know what the speed limit was back there, then starts asking about the fender eliminator because he likes how it cleans up the ass end. Starts talking to me about his 02 R1 and how he's been thinking of going for a new one, asks if he can sit on and does. He and I ended up having a smoke bullshitting on the side of the road for almost 45 minutes, again no ticket.

I have quite a few friends that are cops and I've done a lot of ride alongs, and I think screamin said it well. We all know deep down when we're playing, just take your lumps if you get caught and shrug it off if you don't and they just wanted to talk to you.

A lot of B.S. ticket writing is caused from the state you live in. No cop REALLY wants to be writing tickets all day. I'm not a cop but I'd imagine some level of ticket writing quota has to be meet so that the state can make their money to pay for their wages. Hell, I think i'd pay extra taxes every year so police do not have to pull people over just to fill some quota.
