Default Ticket - Should I Go???

Alright guys, i have a question for you...

On 10/31/07 me and some buddies went on a ride from Reno to Auburn through Georgetown Etc. Once we were done we went through Auburn, got back on I-80 and started our hour and a half ride home. We were making pretty good timing, we got to a straight where we usually let it open and then shut down about a mile up the road. During that i looked behind me and see a CHP on my ass, i pull over immediately and so did all my friends. The officer got out of her car and and was basically scared shitless saying how her cruiser couldnt keep up with us for the last five miles blah blah blah. She tells us to sit on the rocks while she calls for back up. Once back up arrives she pulls us over to her car one by one and explains how she has a Hyabusa and knows we could have easily out run her, told us not to be so fragrantly stupid and wrote us a ticket that says 145+, 85 in a 65. So basically a ticket for 20 over instead of reckless or taking us to jail.

She proceeded to say that we would get a ticket in 10 days advising us of our charges, fines, and demerits, if we want to go to court its Dec 10.

Well, its now Dec 5 and i have yet to get anything in the mail. My question is should i call the court down there, should i just not do anything and hope it got lost in the mix, should i call after my court date?

I travel to CA quite often and dont want to get pulled over another time and the cop tell me i have a warrant and take my ass to jail, not really where i want to spend my time traveling in CA.

Any help or opinions would honestly be greatly appreciated. This has been eating away at me weighing out my options, i just dont know what would be the best plan of attack...

Stunnaz Notez: I got pulled over doing 145,
got a ticket for 80 in a 65,
never got the ticket in the mail
Court is in 5 days

WHAT SHOULD I DO???

If she didn't give you a ticket at the scene then I'm pretty sure you're scott free. However, all you have to do is call the probate court in the county you got the ticket, and tell them strictly hypothetically "If I got pulled over for speeding..." blah blah, and tell you're story. They'll tell you what's up.

I got a ticket, but she told me my 'real' ticket would be in the mail within 10 days of the incident...

Hmm... I dont want to incriminate myself you know?

If you got a ticket, signed it etc then you have to pay it or appear in court i believe. I have no clue about the "real" ticket comming in the mail. That just sounds retarded to me.

You can call and just give them your name. Tell them you dont know your case number. That way they can look you up. If your not in the system then your not in the system. Make sure though, you wont be incriminating yourself but if you miss a court date things get ugly for you fast! Ride safe. Lucky you didnt have to pay the 300 tow fees and find a ride home... Same thing happen to me with a wheelie ticket. I got a lawyer and got off the ticket for $300 though... Good luck.

There is nothing to pay, no price on the ticket i signed... As far as court goes, its like 2+ hours away and i would rather pay the 20 over ticket then give up a day of work...

Cool, i guess i will just have to call and see what happens... I was hoping you would all say "no ticket in the mail, your fine then" lol obviously thats not the case.

I was SO happy when she wrote the ticket instead of arresting us and putting our bikes in the California Impound... I will take a fat speeding ticket any day before jail or a reckless...

Any CHP officers have an input? Any officers at all? Anyone else with experience?

^^ thats your choice you can definately just pay it off. They will often reduce the fine for showing up, but if you just want to pay the full bail then you can do that. Just make sure if they have you in the system to pay the fine, if not, you got lucky. You could also ask for an extension because of work duties, delay the court apperance and hope that she doesn't show up on the next date. Happens ALL the time, then case dismissed!

I've actually had a couple tickets "lost in the mail" regardless if they were really sent out or not. There is a court date on the ticket, therefore if you do not receive anything in the mail you need to show up to court on that date. Dont rely on just calling in and the clerk telling you there is nothing on record. In Cali you get a written citation then in a couple weeks you should receive a final printed citation with the amount due and options you have ie traffic school and what not.

When i got no ticket in the mail i lost the original and called in trying to find out if there was anything on record and after about a month nothing came up so i disregarded it. I got screwed, i had another ticket pending so when i went to pay for it they were like hey you have a warrant. I asked what i could do and they said all i needed to do is pay the ticket but they also taxed on a $300 fee for failure to pay. So one of my tickets turned out to be a total just under $700.

Cliffs: Regardless you should go to court on date
In Cali the written citation is just acknowledgment that you received and will take care of ticket
Ive had a "ticket lost in mail" got screwed in the end.
