Question Turned right on a red light where prohibited - Pennsylvania

Background: I have a clean record, been driving for 4 years, and I'm 20.

The story: I was in my car in PA and I came up to a red light on a rainy night, stopped fully and looked left. No cars, so I turned right. I didn't see the sign by the red light that said "no turn on red." A cop with all his lights off sitting on the other side of the road flicked his lights on and busted a U-turn after me. I pulled over immediately, I was courteous, and he still gave me a citation

The question: What should I do so I don't get points on my Maryland driver's license and so I don't get raised insurance? I think I have to plead guilty since I can go back and see the sign, but I still want a trial. I say this because it was rainy and nighttime and I genuinely had a hard time seeing the sign even after I went back to the intersection that night to see if it was in fact there.

PA points don't go on your MD record (thats why the dick didn't give you a warning). It is still reported to your insurance. If your record is perfect it shouldn't affect your rates. I live just south of the PA line. It seems like PA staties don't like Marylanders.

I would fight it. dont plead guilty either b/c you didnt knowingly commit the offense ( regaurdless if you can go back and look at the sign or learn pa laws) if it were me Id go to court, the points will catch up w/ you in md eventually
