Default got my first ticket today

got my first ticket ever today, and i was in my car. i was coming up to a red light, slowed down, and made the right. apparently this is illegal and you're supposed to stop at a red light on a "bypass" then turn right. gave me a $119.00 ticket.

now i wouldnt post this shit cause it's just a lame ticket, i'm gunna show up to court and let them know that i was a sober driver just trying to go to mcdonalds to get an iced coffee and get back to my room and call it a night, when every other kid my age is out getting drunk (as politely as possible of course )

i just dont fucking get it. it's saturday night and i'm in the biggest party school in our state. we are known for the most drunk driving idiots too. there are literally drunks walking the streets as i was getting pulled over. and this fucking ****** ass cop pulls me over and gives me a ticket. i mean what the fuck? no warning, just a ticket. $119.00 for doing something completely normal and not even reckless like speeding can be. isn't $119 equivalent to like 20mph over the limit? this is fucking ridiculous. i'm a broke college student who has a perfect driving record and this is the shit i get. if it were any other day/time i wouldnt be nearly as pissed. but i mean COMMON we PASSED idiots that were hammered and walking in the street!?!?! fuckin a

$119 is a slap on the wrist. 20+ is like $200+. Was he being a prick, yeah probably, but he was also checking to see your condition given the environment you described.

There are worse things in life.

Edit- Life isn't fair bro.

he walked up, and i made it clear that i hadn't been drinking, and he knew it. why not let me off with a warning? i wouldnt mind if he pulled me over to check and SEE if i was drunk, and if i wasn't let me on my merry way. but no, i wasnt drunk, he still gave me a ticket.

you're right, life isnt fair. oh well

the court hearing or w/e should be easy. i was completely sober on a saturday night, a college student bound for GT with excellent grades, and i'll let them know that money is very hard to come by for me, and $120 is a months worth of groceries... because it is...

but then again, life isnt fair, they may not give a shit about it, and just wanna get a quick buck. if there's a chance i can drop the fine, then it'll be dropped, if not, then nobody could have gotten away with it

Man, court costs are going to be around $100 anyway. If you broke the law, you broke the law. I don't know the specifics, but put it behind you and move on. It isn't worth getting worked up over and the time and headache to fight it aren't worth the money.

Again, life sucks, there are a$$holes in every crowd, group, and organization. I used to get really pissed off at things like this, but when it happens over and over and over, you just realize that its a part of life and its best to move on.

Edit- Can you recall times when you've broken the law and gotten away with it? What is the percentage to those times vs. the times you get screwed with like this? I'm not an angel, so I figure statistically I'm doing well. Just my .02.
