I hate traffic lights...almost as much as I hate cops!
Ok, so I am on my way to work this morning through the twisties and I get stuck behind a couple cars. I see an opening on a straight and make my pass. I accelerated to about 120 and let off for the next turn. Then I start to accelerate from about 70 as I get into the turn. Just then I see a cop coming the opposite direct; oh fuck!
I see him hit the brakes, and I figure that I'm going to be fucked if I let him have his way. I got lucky two weeks ago and a cop let me off with a warning, but I wasn't going to give this cop the chance to nab me. I blast up to 130 because I am 1 mile from my turn into work. I keep looking in my mirror for the cop, but I don't see anyone behind me. I crest the last of the rolling hills and the fucking light turns red. I stop to make my left turn into work, while swearing at the light to turn and yes there were cars going through the light in front of me. It seemed like I waiting for an eternity, and then just as the light turns green the cop crests the hill and pulls in behind me.
He clocked me at 73 in a 50, but he only wrote me for 5 over. He also mentioned that we could work something out in court like impeding traffic, which is zero points on my license. However, the fucker still is going to cost me $100. Don't cops have something better to do like arrest people for murder or rape? Oh course not, they would rather rape the harmless tax paying citizens who just want to have a little excitement on the way to work.

He let you go with a minor infraction and you are upset? WTF OVER?
You should be grateful, ESPECIALLY considering that you ran and he didn't even know.

clearly you are an asshole. You were let off for far worse than what you were doing and you get mad at him, congrats.
Maybe one day you will be doing 130 and kill someone else, perhaps he was going after a murderer

he shouldnt have let you off the hook, which is exactly what he did. $100 ticket and no points for speeding, reckless driving and evading police? i'd be saying that the cop MADE my day if i were in your situation considering the stupid riding.

Haha. It is hilarious to see everyone's different view of this. Sorry Denny. I do agree with you on your hatred of the fuzz and the lights, but a $100 ticket for doing 23 over legitimately and then running at 130? That is a blessing in my book.

i also say that u r lucky... and if you can swing that deal its even better! either way you are out $100... but this way your insurance stays... now quit making the fuzz have to write you speeding tickets... there are more serious crimes out there to cover (all depends on your point of view)
take her easy and count your stars!

If I was out $100.00 and no points after getting nicked by the police, I'd count my lucky stars.
Last time I got off "cheap" like that, it took a lawyer to do it. All the money went to the attorney, not the county.

First off, I am not bitching about this particular cop, he was cool. However, he made me late for work, so that is why I felt the need to vent a little.
Second, he had no idea that I was running from him. If there was a possibility that he would have suspected this, then I would have just pulled over. He went by me mid-corner and I saw him hit his brake lights. After that, he would have had to turn around and come all the way back through the curve in order to clock me again. I ride the same road to work every day, and that last stretch is three rolling hills with low tree limb cover, so he could not have seen me after I started down the slope of the first hill. It was only a mile sprint and then a left into my work at the light.
Anyway, I'm glad that he was cool about it and offered me the option to reduce it to impeding in court. It just ruined my day that I was pulled over on the way to work, when all that I was trying to do was have a little fun taking the curve at 70 mph, which IMO is a reasonable speed.
