Default My first ticket :(

Supposedly a police airplane caught me and two buddies crossing a double yellow line. We didn't cross a double yellow until after we had already gone to pass on a broken yellow line and then ran out of said broken yellow so we had to cross back over the double yellow or we woulda been chillin there in the oncoming traffic lane until our next chance opened up. I find it hard to believe that a pilot could have seen us crossing a double yellow from several hundred (of not a thousand) feet up, so we're gonna fight the charges. I was told there is no camera footage, only the pilot's word, and I know what I did and didn't do, so let the fun begin.

should be a fairly easy case to win, or get reduced

A friend of mine just told me that a case can be argued thru mailed written arguments. Is this true? There were actually three cops involved in my case; the pilot, the cop who pulled me (us) over, and a third cop who arrived and actually did the checking of my license and writing of my citation. If I send in a thorough written argument, and all three of these chaps have to submit an equal written rebuttal, it should be a piece of cake for me to get this thing reduced or dropped altogether. Yay? Nay?

go to your state police website, in VA the laws are all listed online. print the law that pertains to passing on a dotted and yellow line. bring that law into court with you on paper and present it to the judge, explain that you passed a slower moving vehicle while the line was dotted, and you didnt want to exceed speed limits so the pass took a little longer than expected and you were to the double yellow line by the time the pass could safely be completed, then you got back into your lane. and with all due respect to the officers i think you operating your vehicle safely on the road is not a crime, and getting out of the way of oncoming traffic was all you were trying to do to protect your safety after you made the pass.

Think i've fought a few tickets before??? haha i get out of most of them. shoulda been a lawyer

if so, jsut make sure to have all questions, no other bullshit, jsut keep hitting them wiht question after question, and turn it into a true or false game, they would get so pissed off at that all having to write, no ,no, no . sound slike a fun game to do it that way

Of course!

I just posted in a few threads about this cuz I won a case where a plane got our speed but a cop had to pull us over on site after.

Look on the back of your ticket and it says you can fight it by "written declaration".

I would first wait till about a week or two before your court date and get an extension.

You really don't have to write shit in your declaration because the way it works is that all cops involved have to send in a written statement of what happened. If one of the three doesn't you win. Plus I heard that cops don't get paid to write in replies like they get paid when they go into court.

Gl with it seems like an easy win.
