Default Out of State ticket

I got a ticket doing 73 in a 55 in California. I'm stationed in OK and have an OK driving license. Does anybody know if it will effect my insurance if I don't go to traffic school considering I got the ticket out of state? Some I've talked to said yes some say no, but none of them are positive. Just wondering if anyone out there has been through a similar situation.

Just pay it. If the Army ever finds out you dodged a ticket, it's your ass. Is it worth it? What if you go through California ever again and get pulled over? You'll regret not payin a $200 ticket.

I got a ticket in a similar way once. I paid it becuase taking a class was out of the question because of the distance. Talked to local state farm lady and she said if it's out of state and you pay, most probably insurance people won't find out. If you don't pay then they'll find out....that's what i was told.

Thanks I'll take everyone's advice and pay the ticket. The Army wouldn't mind as much since I'm the Marines, but I assume they'd burn me just the same.

No don't pay for it!!!

In cali you can fight tickets by written declaration. You just write in a statement and send it in. If the cop doesn't reply you automatically win.

Try that first before you just pay the ticket. I would get an extension and then do the written declaration. Cops don't get paid to write in so there is always a chance to win this ticket.

Btw cali shares ticket info with every state so the points will go on your license in your state.

How would I go about sending in a written statement? Who would I send it to?

If you look on the back off the ticket at the bottom it says you can request a hearing by written declaration when you send in your fine. Do that then they send you the papers to fill of the forms.

I waited to have my case date extended once then I requested the written info.

When I get home today I'm going to check that out and give it a shot. I extended it yesterday. Thanks.
