Angry By a damn airplane

Got my first ticket on my bike today. Been riding over 5 years now and never gotten a ticket.

I was pulling into a town on Hwy 101 here in WA and cops waved me and my buddy over for speeding. Turns out we were clocked by an airplane a few miles back. But we were going with the pace of traffic. There were at least 5 cars ahead of us and more than that behind us..including a logging truck. We had kept this pace for a while. So as our group pulls into town, we passed a group of 5 cop cars on the side of the road and they waved us over. Was for 65 in a 55, $101 fine. Out of over 10 cars they single out the bikes in the middle of the pack. My buddy is furious at the profiling and I'm kinda upset about it. We were taking it slow(ish), not horsing around and we fucking get pulled over. Buddy's thinking of contesting it. Not sure if it's worth my time.

I'm trying to excuse it to myself because I've done a lot of stupid shit on this bike in the past. And still do almost as stupid shit. They got me for 10 over which is nothing compared to what I could have gotten in the past 5 years.

Tell that mofo in the plane to touch down and write the ticket..being as HE was the one to clock you not the ones on the ground... Then when he land say hey there goes your plane and give him a swift

^haha wtf.

Definitely contest it on a profiling basis and point out that a logging truck was following you and yadda yadda and atleast get it reduced.

If you haven't gotten one in five years, you can probably take defensive driving and keep it off your record. Might just be worth it to do that.

I can't believe they actually wasted their time pulling you over for going 10mph over the speed limit on a bike.

same thing happened to me a few years back riding to logandale from las vegas. it's a 75mph zone, me and two of my buddies were "playing" around. at times we got up to 130, but it was only for a small portion of the trip. we couldn't help ourselves, it's a long straight highway. only 3 miles to the exit, coming down a small hill, two nhp cars light up and point at us to pull over. as i'm taking off my helmet, i'm thinking "how the hell did they catch us? we didn't see any cops in the opposite traffic." finally, got the helmet off, looked at the sky. and saw the cessna. fcuk!!! nhp officer said, "i love those things!!" then he asked, "you know how fast you guys were going?" i decided to gamble on the coolness of the officers, and i replied, "5 miles over the limit?" they both laughed a little, and said, "nope, try 117 mph" ay caramba!! i went back to my bike to grab my insurance and registration, and noticed oil all over the right side of my tire. looked at the dip stick and it was loose. i had the oil changed two days prior by the dealer (that's the last time i had them service my bike). gave one of the officers my info, and asked them if they had some paper towels, which they kindly gave me some. as i'm wiping the oil off, one of the officer came over with my ticket and said, "i'm only citing you guys for 95 in a 75." i signed it, said thank you, and went to the nearest gas station to wipe off the rest of the oil.

you could say this ticket was a "blessing in a disguise". if they hadn't pulled us over, i definitely would've been low sliding at the first right turn. thank god the officers were nice. if they wrote 117 on the ticket , we would've had our bikes towed, and be sitting in a jail cell for wreckless driving. did you know you could negotiate a speeding ticket?? i wrote them a letter asking to lessen the fines. think it was like around $300, and three points. they wrote back, saying if i took a defensive driving school, and send them a copy of my driving record for the the next six months, they'll dropped it to $180 and no points. however, my other friend that was with me that day. went to the courthouse and talked to a judge. the judge did told him the same stipulation, but they would drop it to $120 and one point. we both did the block buster driving school thing and got a copy of our driving records. however, we went to the courthouse on different days to pay our fine, and did the "hey, my friend got the same ticket, but our fines are different." and in the end, all we had to pay was $120 and no points on our records.

my gf's sister got a speeding ticket when she went down to seattle a few weeks ago. cop said an aircraft was clocking her too. she kinda drives fast though...but you, i dunno. 10mph over the speed limit's nothing, i thought that was the leeway. i heard they raised the fine on speeding tickets, that's alot for 10mph. i think u should fight it if everyone els was going the same speed, that just ain't right.
