Helmet noise reduction

SO for a little over a year now i've been riding an Icon Alliance. I was actually pretty happy with the helmet and when I got a Sena SMH5, I had no issues hearing my music or phone calls even at high way speeds.

I was recently at the AIMExpo and I impulse purchased a Vega Stealth F117 (http://www.stealth-helmets.com/produ...e-gloss-black/) because it seemed a good deal. It was comfortable and on the way home the lightness and aero made headchecks much easier.

However, the biggest downfall is the noise. holy poop is it loud compared to my Alliance. At first there was a whistle, but I remedied that with tape on the side of the visor. After I installed my Sena on it though, the amount of loud sinked in when I couldn't even hear my music on the highway.

Is this a lesson learned? dont purchase shit at a trade show? or can i turn this into a little project and see if we can turn the volume down a bit?

That happens but I think you won't find a complete silent helmet but you can at least reduce the noise. Otherwise, you should try and use true earplugs. There are companies who offers all the control of noise cancelling headphones designed for riders.

I'm trying to find some noise cancelling head phones that are comfortable to wear and don't drag too much while removing or putting on my helmet. if anyone has suggestions please send them my way.
