textile typically do not hold up well for long slides, but they do have armor in them to absorb an impact...personally I used to wear one on the street when it was really hot, but mostly I wore leather

I've always worn leather so I can't vouch for how the textiles hold up but you'll be better off crashing in leather.

Then again, something is better than nothing.

Textile is better than mesh. But obviously leather is best. If it's hot where you live, then get perforated leather to help the wind keep you cool. I always wear leather after getting 3rd degree burns and needing skin grafting. But that was in a mesh jacket, not textile.

Here's the problem with Joe Rocket. You never know what kind of quality you are gonna get out of the gear you buy from them. I have owned some of the gloves and the Pheonix jacket. Obviously, the jacket fell apart in my crash and burned into my skin. The gloves I have owned from them all had the stitching fall apart from normal use.

On the track, I have seen guys using JR leathers and when they crash seems burst.

On the flip side, people have crashed in their stuff and been fine. As I said, their QA blows. I just wouldn't risk my health on a product I can't be certain will protect me in the event of a crash.

I've never seen someone crash in textile jacket/pants that didn't get at least a little rash. When i rode in town, 95% of the time i had my leather jacket on, anything less than leather feels unsafe to me

I crashed in mesh jacket and only wear leather now, as I was told when I bought the mesh jacket "its a throw away" you go down once no matter how fast you can count on throwing it away. Mine shredded on a 30mph low side, rash on both arms. I bought it because it was what I could afford at the time.
