sorry man, meant to quote you earlier. I saw your post and looked at the thread.

I'm not sure yet -- I know they're an awesome deal but I have to try things on before I buy. I'll see if a local shop has them to try.

...Or you could just keep wearing the ones you have (cause they're not that bad) and buy some running shoes....just a suggestion

....have you seen the condition of my riding boots. How about when you get home tonight, take a look at them and then come post up.

And I never said I wasn't getting new shoes (running or not) ... so... back to the kitchen!

Other than the 4.5 mile ride to work, my Alpinestars SMX Plus's are on every time I get on the bike. I's recommend putting some gel insoles in to make them more comfortable for daily use no matter which ones you get. The A*'s have killer feel of brake and shifter and are holding up well despite having the absolute shit beat out of them on the track. I somehow ran over my own right foot and drug the entire outside of my left on the track in one hugely scary 90's MotoGP looking near get-off and they are still very wearable with no damage protection-wise.

i love my sidi vertigo air. perfect for warm & cold weather. gone down in them 2x & still wearing them. super comfy... can be worn all day at work. i also just got the dainese axial race boots today. these are super light & feel quite comfortable too. i'm sure i'll be very happy w/ these too.

don't skimp on footwear protection. it doesn't matter if you're riding street, canyon or track. your footwear can't differentiate where you are riding when it hits or slides across the asphalt.

I dunno if it's just me or what, but I tried on a pair of Oxtars before I bought my Sidi's, and it pretty much felt like strapping a 2 x 4 to each foot, not comfy AT ALL. Maybe it was just the model I had tried on, (dont remember which one,) or maybe they just needed to break in or somethin.

Oh and, if you get a pair of A* in the end, get ready to own a pair of squeaky boots. You always can tell without lookin when a rider with A* boots is walking past you in the pits.

i've got a pair of oxtars for sale, it's the tcs, but not the replica one... they are not your size, but they are awesome for street riding and walking around, i wore them to school everyday senior year when i rode to school. check out the link to get an idea of what they look like, and see if you can track down a pair, they are pretty cheap and hold up awesome, i crashed in mine at the track and my feet/ankles came out unharmed:

another nice thing about them is that they offer the full protection up your leg, but they are undetectable under jeans, so skinny enough that it looks like you're just wearing shoes..
