Default Do yourself a favor, get your suspension dialed in

I had my suspension adjusted for my weight/size at the last track day I did (yesterday). The bike felt way more stable afterward becuz initially it was set up far too stiff and would bounce around as it hit bumps in turns. It was also about a million percent easier to flick into a turn at high speeds. It's well worth the money to have a competent suspension guy adjust the bike to your size.

I would really like to get this done. Lately it seems every time i ride i get very frusterated with my bike, and i blame it totally on my suspension. Where the hell can i get this done, and also how much did it cost you? I also have a bad feeling my forks arent 100% straight, whats the easiest way to check that?

Anyways, Im bored, and its raining so i think im going to the garage to rip my bike apart...

I need to get mine set up... But there haven't been any suspension guys at my last few track days that could help me. Oh well, I'm not really having any problems yet anyway...

getting mine setup at a trackday several months ago made a huge difference. Most specifically the rear end felt 10x better after they were done measuring and adjusting.

my buddy had his ninja 636 done this past friday before our saturday trackday and he said afterwards it felt like a new bike (shop guys said his was way off). that bastard was freaking fast after they got done with it.

I didn't have any "problems" with mine either, it felt perfectly stable and normal to me. It was a bit jumpy in turns and would fight quite hard when I steered the bike at speeds of 100+, but I figured this was normal cuz the bike had so much forward momentum. Man, was I wrong!

The dealership had set the bike up ridiculously stiff. The tech doing the work at the track said that he outweighed me by a good 50 pounds (I'm about 170) and my bike was set up excessively stiff even for a man of his weight. After he was done, the suspension was much softer and soaked up bumps a million times better. That completely eliminated the jumpy feeling in turns, and all that time I figured I was just giving unintended throttle inputs and making the bike bouncy. It turns very smoothly now. As for the high-speed steering resistance, when he softened up the front end it made the nose far more responsive because the weight could shift around much more easily. Good stuff.

Don't wait for "problems" in your handling. Bottom line is, you could be very fast and smooth even with incorrect suspension settings, it's all a matter of what you're used to and your ability to adapt. I promise you the bike will feel much more nimble and responsive once it's dialed in.

Hmm. Well, lets just hope that there will be some suspension guys at my next couple trackdays! Thanks for the info.
