what do you guys thing
ok so i currently own the 06 r6 put on about 1500 miles b4 that my only riding experience came from barrowing my friends r6 more frequently than normal(had it for about 2 weeks once and put a nice amount of miles on it hah) anyway I've been looking at the how to guide for installing headphones into my helmet so i can have some music to listen to while I ride obviously...
Now I've been debating if I want to do this or not because I dont know if it would be a destraction or not... I mean I know for a fact if a really good song comes on and it pumps me up im gonna hit that throttle harder but besides that do you guys think it would be a destract me on bieng as aware of whats going on around me???

Well, it's not legal, so there's some legislator out there who thinks it's a distraction.
I don't think it's any worse than driving a car with the stereo turned up. I know people who've done it, and none of them have had accidents because of it.
It's really up to you though. Are you willing to take the risk of getting a ticket for it? How easily are you disctracted? How much does having music on effect your (as in you personally) ability to drive a car? These are the questions that you must ask yourself.

the legal part im not really worried about it... and im always blasting my music when i drive and i dont think it distracts me at all i drive a stick too... but i will say i drive a lot faster and maybe a little crazier and some people eyes(switch lanes constantly and what not) but never got to an accident because of it... i also think driving a car and a motorcycle is totally different... so i dont really think comparing blasting my music in a car and on a bike means anything

First, it's not illegal everywhere, here in Iowa, there are no restrictions on headphones in your helmet. I have driven with them both in and out, and on the highway loved it, but in town and basic afternoon traffic driving, I found it a nuisance and ended up turning it off. Night time and highway driving though is great. Although I found I liked more laid back music when I was riding as it calmed me down when I was driving fast. I don't ride with headphones anymore, I only really drove with them for a couple weeks. I enjoy the sound of the engine way more! hehehe

I guess it depends on what helmet(s) you have (HJC AC-12 Carbon here) but I wear earplugs almost every time I ride... the wind noise above 70 mph is bad and the engine / pipe noise (06 R6) above 13000 rpm vibrates my eardrums to the point that it causes that damaging tickle in my ears.
Anybody have a way to keep the bad noise out while having headphones in? Otherwise its just drowning one loud noise out with another.

I've used my Creative mp3 player with Sony earbuds on longer trips on the bike... The earbuds block out a good amount of the bike/wind noise, and the music definitely makes the trip more bearable. I didn't find it distracted from my riding much, but then it was mostly just freeway cruising. I'd definitely turn it off if you're going to be doing something more aggressive. I turn mine off as soon as I'm off the highway, since riding in the city takes more attention.

For highway/trip riding I'll listen to my MP3 player I dont find it all that distracting but it could be, if I am in town or just commuting to work I wont listen to it, the city is just to dangerous to have something else distracting you.

+1
It's nice to have if you're just cruising but you definitely want 100% of your concentration if you're riding hard.
by the way, nice plug for Creative

Yeah, fuck iPod. I hate their junk... Creative has never, ever let me down or disappointed me.
