Goin to GP Shift, how to break the habit?
Yo guys. Aight I got a set of Sato rear sets comin my way here in about another week or two, and I was wondering if you guys have got some slam dunk way of breaking yourself of your habit when you GP your shifter. I know as soon as I GP my bike, I'm gonna get all screwed up and be backwards on my shifts for a bit, and that could be really dangerous in the canyons and on the track. Any suggestions?

ive had gp shift on mine for a few months now. ive only made a mistake twice, both times i caught myself and reshifted before i let the clutch out.
the way i handled shifting was thinking stomp(not actually, just an expression) on the shifter to go faster, like a gas pedal.
instead of shifting naturally, you will have to think about it a little... otherwise just go drive around the neighborhood getting used to it..
John.

I don't know what to tell you man...I've always had GP shift
But what Cever told me was if you do make the mistake and downshift instead of upshift and you lock the rear to grab the clutch and ride it out.

Yeah, it's just going to take time... I'd put a good 100/200 miles on it before you do any serious riding.

I switched a few days ago. Switched it, rode for about 20 minutes around town, went to sleep and it was near second nature when I woke up the next morning. Just take the leap, it doesnt take long to warm up to.

Ride easy and think about your shifts for the first few times out. After a while it should jsut become second nature. It took me some time to learn GP shift.

Takes time. I always wanted the gp shift, so when I got mine I was already in the mindset. Took alittle getting used when rev matching, but it's great!!

If I'm not mistaken, on the 06 you can just flip it. For the 99-05 you have to buy the shift rod.
