Default Is it possible to stick you knee out too much?

Just wondering or dangerdog's thread got me thinking.. Is this possible? I notice alot of guys at the track who seem pretty fast that don't drag their knee..

Are they tryin to save money on pucks?

Or are they sticking their knee back in once they drag to get the feel of how low they are leaned?

Thanks!

Yes, it is possible to stick your knee out too far. Some new guys, trying so hard to get their knee down, will have it jutted out at an impossible angle, trying to touch the ground. That's not the way to do it. Make the ground come to it. Additionally, when you have your knee pushed out that far, it is likely to be startling to you if/when it does touch, because your leg will be rigid. This in turn could upset the bike, causing a nasty spill.

when i first got my knee down i was stretching as FARRR as i could and when it actually touched, it hit hard and scared the hell out of me, sending me off my line and almost off the track. after that i just focused on good body position and didn't worry if/when it made contact. after awhile it became a reassuring feeling when it was dragging, i guess cause i felt so close to the ground.

Nah, that looks fine. A bigger pic would help though.

While we're on body position... Anybody think I need to get my ass more off the seat here?

I know I need to get my elbow in and my shoulders further down, but it doesn't look like I'm hanging off hardly at all. But then when I looked at pictures of some of the faster advanced guys in the same corner, they didn't look like they were any further off...
