Passanger problems...
Ive been rideing for awile now, and i tryed yesterday for my first time to carry a passanger.
I am about 5'9 170 and my lady is about 5'5-6ish 100something (she doesnt like to tell me her weight...) but anyway, she was on the rear seat and it felt like she was way far back there, and just not right. There was alot of room between us, she had to lean real far foward to put her arms around me and it didnt feel right at all, basicly there was 100odd pounds sitting on the back and wasnt really attached on or whatever, just didnt feel right at all. So i told her to move foward, and basicly what ended up happening was she actually was on my seat with me, nothing on the rear seat.. both of us were on the same seat. It was a real tight fit and my nuts were scruntched up real close to the tank but it felt alot better then it did when she was way back there.
I like the feeling of her being real close, almost like were one person,it just feels alot safer and easier to control the bike rather then haveing 100odd pounds floating around back there on the rear seat.
My question is, what the hell am i or we doing wrong, im bigger then alot of people ive seen rideing r6's with passangers and they didnt seem to have any problems, but for some reason it just isnt working. Maybe im sitting to close to the tank and need to sit further back in order to make her not have to sit so foward, i dont know.. i just hope you guys can picture it in your head and tell me whats going on, i had alot of fun rideing with her but im sure it would be alot better with her actually sitting where shes supposted to and not being in pain everytime i stop.

it helps to wear a backpack with "stuff" inside of it. you can put a sweater or something. that way, you will have some cushion between you and her.
that helps for me.

whenever i take passengers i scoot my butt back off the tank a bit. also i have the girl squeeze her knees in towards me so she can brace herself a bit more. when coming to a stop i have her brace the tank with her hands so she doesn't crush my junk and end up on the seat with me. it takes some getting used to, just take your time and don't go cranking around any corners. even slight lean angle while up on that perch can be really scary for someone new to riding. make sure she's helping you thru corners and not counterleaning. remind her to look the the corner that you're taking and that'll be all the help required. be safe out there bro. her life is in your hands!

The first time i took a passenger was my best friend's gf... he came by with her after i got the bike and she litteraly made me take her while my gf was too scared to ride... she weighs like 110 or 115ish and so when she sat down she ws on the same seat as me... i didn't notice it because i never had a passenger before... my balls were all the way up to the tank and i felt every bump in the road. after my gf got on she is only about 100 she sat back and i jes slid my ass back a little on the seat and her legs were around me and she was leanin on the tank.. anyway the passenger seat is for the passenger because your seat is too small and if you value your balls, and i'm sure you gf does, she will be ok with going on the passenger seat and you guys will get used to it
does she hold on to you or does she put her hands on the tank?

Alright guys, i think its just a problem of mine, not feeling normal with so much weight behind me tha far back there...
Im going to try and slide alittle further back on my seat so it doesnt seem shes so far back there, it just feels weird though, im used to being pretty close to the tank and haveing my knees in thoe nice little grooves of the tank, but when i sit further back (as far back as i have to to make it feel normal with her back there) i cant put my legs in the tank grooves as well and it just feels odd.
So basicly yous are saying to have her hold onto me with her knees and lean forward and also hold onto me or the tank?

hey bro, for the sake of safety always have her have at LEAST 1 hand wrapped around you at all times. when you slow to a stop, have her use 1 hand to brace the tank. if she needs 2, make SURE she has her hand/hands wrapped around you before you even THINK about accelerating. if you get even slightly greedy with the throttle, you might dump your precious cargo. also, it takes getting used to because your body position is slightly different, and if you don't tweak your preload, your suspension is going to be a bit off.
i don't bother changing my preload b/c i keep mine stiff and when i'm carrying a passenger i'm never flicking the bike through twisties. i prefer to keep the rides pretty sedate.

You're not feeling anything abnormal, NothingFace. I've had a couple passengers too, and it's a very strange feeling. Bottom line is the R6 was never truly designed for two people, even though it *can* carry two. But, I agree with you, I felt much more stable with my passenger scooted way up against me, with my body pressed as close to the tank as I could get. That helped keep weight on the front wheel and made turning and changing lanes easier.
I think next time I'm gonna crank the rear spring up a couple notches before I have a passenger. That will help counteract the sinking of the rear end and basically make the bike sit level when there's weight on the rear seat. Maybe try that next time.

I think this has to do with her weight.. She lied.. U sure she ain't like 200 llbs?
haha j/k...
As someone had already mentioned have her squeeze with her legs for added security. My ex complained the same thing and she wanted to ride with me in my seat. and I firmly said NO!!!!! haha....
