Default The chronicles of Hack.....

This weekend my friend and I decided to hit some backroads. I told him that I knew a couple of good ones around my neck of the woods and I would be happy to show him the area. So we agreed to meet up and ride the roads. He gets a call on his cell, and it's some more guys that want to ride. (Personally, I hate riding with people I don't know) So I agree to go meet up with the guys too and take them on the roads. We pull up to meet the other guys and they all have GSX-R. So there is me on the R6, 2 GSX-R 1000's and a GSX-R 750. I'm thinking to myself,"Oh boy, this is going to be interesting." So I specifically told the guys,"Hey fellas, there are some really tight turns so stay alert." So we hit the roads, and this guy is on my tail (not my friend, one of the guys that I didn't know). We hit this turn that is a decreasing radius blind right-hander, and downhill. Sure enough, this guy shoots it wide and rolls straight into the ditch. Luckily his bike was mostly unharmed. He ended up breaking his mirror and bending his shifter, but he was able to ride it home. I felt really bad afterwards and I found myself feeling responsible for this mishap.

1. Was I going to fast?
2. Should I have took the turn really slow?

After getting his bike out of the ditch, I felt really bad. I decided to take the bike home. I don't think that I want to lead rides anymore. This is the reason why I hate riding with people that I don't know. Why do people feel that there is something to prove? Just ride your own ride. As long as you are on two wheels, you are cool with me.

hell no its not your fault. you cant take the responsibility of others man, you have no control over their throttle wrist.
you did warn them and thats all that you needed to do. and truthfully you didnt need to do that even.

been there, done that. There were about 8 of us riding once and we were doing around 70mph on some back roads and there was a left corner that was fairly sharp and had a small quick hill at the crest.....which kinda makes you LIGHT as you go around it. well, the 6th guy back ended up loosing it and messed up his gixxer pretty bad, but he didn't get hurt. It was still ridable, but we had to weld his shifter on so he could keep riding when we got back to my neighbors house. The first words out of his mouth were "I was trying to catch up to tell you guys to slow down so I could keep up!" hahahahahaha, we ALWAYS look out for each other and stop at every intersection until everyone is caught up.

So, in a nut shell..... they are responsible for THEIR riding skills ..... not you!

hmmm, that makes TWO gixxers taht couldn't hang with a 6.....should have bought a yamaha! LOL

That really sucks... I can see how you feel bad but it's all his fault... at least he wasn't hurt and maybe he will learn his lesson so he doesn't make the same mistakes again...

I think it's his own fault for riding over his head... But at the same time, you can sometimes tell what kind of riders they will be. As the ride leader it's at your discretion whether you want to purposely slow down on a decreasing radius corner because you *know* that they'll crash, or just ride your own pace and let them be.

You gave them a warning and all, so you shouldn't feel guilty.
