This weekend my friend and I decided to hit some backroads. I told him that I knew a couple of good ones around my neck of the woods and I would be happy to show him the area. So we agreed to meet up and ride the roads. He gets a call on his cell, and it's some more guys that want to ride. (Personally, I hate riding with people I don't know) So I agree to go meet up with the guys too and take them on the roads. We pull up to meet the other guys and they all have GSX-R. So there is me on the R6, 2 GSX-R 1000's and a GSX-R 750. I'm thinking to myself,"Oh boy, this is going to be interesting." So I specifically told the guys,"Hey fellas, there are some really tight turns so stay alert." So we hit the roads, and this guy is on my tail (not my friend, one of the guys that I didn't know). We hit this turn that is a decreasing radius blind right-hander, and downhill. Sure enough, this guy shoots it wide and rolls straight into the ditch. Luckily his bike was mostly unharmed. He ended up breaking his mirror and bending his shifter, but he was able to ride it home. I felt really bad afterwards and I found myself feeling responsible for this mishap.
1. Was I going to fast?
2. Should I have took the turn really slow?
After getting his bike out of the ditch, I felt really bad. I decided to take the bike home. I don't think that I want to lead rides anymore. This is the reason why I hate riding with people that I don't know. Why do people feel that there is something to prove? Just ride your own ride. As long as you are on two wheels, you are cool with me.
