Default first long distance ride 500miles round trip

My first long distance ride around 500 miles round trip and what I learned

Really glad I had a MP3 player to keep me from going nuts in my helmet making faces and whatnot when I’m really bored with nothing to do

Did frequent stops every 80 miles to check with gas and keep my ass from hurting so much and for water its 90+ here in south Texas but the full mesh jacket did alright but I still sweat my ass off anyone know of anything to beat the heat? In hot and high humidity conditions

Experimented with a lot of different riding positions tried the laying down with feet on passenger pegs doesn’t work out too good for me my head ends up almost touching the wind screen may being being 5’11 has something to do with it I don’t know I did however find one position I liked probably not the safest though when I cruse about 80 I can scoot back all the way on the seat and just let my legs dangle and the wind will keep them from touching the ground and it feels ohh sooo good what kind of positions do yall find yallself getting into on making long trips with nothing but a straight road little if no curves?

Oh and I did get 53mpg crusing constantly around 80

And the Z6 tires are awesome still no flat spot in the middle yet and about 1300miles on them and they hold up good with the heat here although they are hot to the touch when I stop to check them

On long tours, you'll hit the exits every 100m or so, if not to fill up with gas, then someone you're riding with needs to. It's good to stretch, too!!!

Move around, a lot. It helps keep you alive on such a trip. If you want to do longish trips habitually. GET A THROTTLE LOCK. Best $20 you can spend to make your bike useful after 400 miles...

i never tried the lock. i use a rocker. those things are great at keeping your hand relaxed. i would take it off before you hit some serious twisties tho.

I run my 6 without the mid & upper fairings, so i can easily rest my legs on my frame sliders. it looks pretty funny...

for the heat - get a bandana - soak it with water and wrap it around your neck - it'll start evaporating and as the wind hits it - it cools you off. it actually works - resoak it everytime you gas up. i have a corbin seat - no pains in the ass for me. I also have a throttle meister - the weight eliminates almost all of the bar vibrations and it has built in "cruise control".

My brother and I went on a trip to the Black Hills once. I think we made almost 1200 miles by the time we got back to Nebraska. We did this over a weekend and it was brutally exhausting - especially with 30 to 40 mph crosswinds coming out of the hills on the way back. I just moved around alot. The most comfortable position for me was to sit as close to the tank as possible so that I could straighten my back. I used a throttle rocker too - that helped alot.

i took about a 400+ mile round trip and moving around was a definite....i would also lay on my bike, basically kicking my legs out the back and if i wanted to cross my feet i could do that as well...it helps stretch the back and legs, not necessarily the safest, but gets the job done...
