I am gonna take it soon what type of new things did you learn? Share with me cause I just plan on getting my license with going to take the msf course cause of time and money. In the state of Texas you have to take the safety course inorder to avoid the road test. I cant find any one that would have time to go to the DPS with me in a car to follow me. What are the dos and donts?

they stated off just going over the bike and leaning how to use the friction zone. they bikes were provided for my class, so i dont know what u will be riding on. i loved the little honda nighthawk 234cc i had for the class. the test consisted of: 1) to do a figure 8 inside of 4 car parking spots 2) a swerve manuver while going atleast 15 mph 3) a sudden stop within a certan amount of feet (i think it was 25ft) 4) to do a 130 degree road turn as if u were ont on the street.
we also did a lot of in and out cone weeving, but that wasnt on the test.
everyone in my class passed.
anything else u need?

My friends told me that when you come to a complete stop to put your right foot on the brake the whole time till you are ready to move. Is that correct?
What other stuff you learn ?

MSF they taught me to put left, then right foot down at full stop. i took mine about 1 month ago and they taught cornering techniques, what to do in emergency situations, alot of clutch control, low speed cornering, etc... pretty basic shit but they also taught alot of things i never woulda thought of on my own. i thought it was gonna be boring as hell cruisin around a parking lot all day but i agree, ton of fun. dos and donts, if you ride now the class is CAKE, i mean easy as can be, just follow instructions. there was a lady on a scooter in my class that didnt know what the hell she was doin and she passed.

Yea, I had to do that in my MSF course.
I think the hardest part of the course was the 8 figure, going 2mph or something.

Seriously dude, that part sucked. I pulled off the left-hand part of the figure 8 perfectly, but I went over the line when I circled back to the right. That was the only error on my MSF exit exam.
Hey shatteringstar, did anyone drop the bike during the test? I have a couple friends who wrecked during their exit exam. Man that would be embarassing!

I took the msf course about 3 weeks ago and it was great. I never rode before and they taught me so much. They actually broke my class down into 2 groups, I had a later class but they squeezed me into the earlier one and there were only 4 people including me in my class so we got to ride alot. everyone in my class passed, but the class before me had alot of people not pass for dropping the bike and whatnot. One kid grabbed a handfull of brake on a turn and fell with the bike, he ended up breaking his leg. I watched this happen right before my class so I was nervous as hell but the instructors were rad and really good at explaining. I recommend everyone take it, I'm still shitting my pants about getting my bike next week. haha. I'll be taking it slow for awhile

yeah, we had 3 or 4 go down.
what made it worse tho... one of those was my dad.
he fell harder then i realized too. first he broke his cell phone, no big deal. then he showed me his fore-arm, he has 3 quarter size road rash spots.
it got me to think tho.. how bad that would be on the street and doing any real speed. my dad fell because he was going to slow for a turn.

Yea, when I did the figure 8, at one point I went so slow in a turn, I had to drop a foot for a second to keep the bike from tipping over.
What bikes did you all use??
I took my course at a Honda MSF place, and we used 250cc Honda Nighthawk or something. I actually like that bike, it was fun and easy to use for playing around.
