i can't lie... im nervous...
so its been 6 months since i've been on my bike... i've put off getting the clip-on and pegs that she needs to be rideable as long as i could... i bought a new car and a jet ski hoping that they would stop the urges i was having to ride bcuz i am nervous to get back in the saddle... the last time i rode, i nearly died and ended up in the hospital for a couple days and the rider that hit me never even made it, may he rest in peace... so thats the reason i'm hesitant to get back on... my family doesnt want me to ride but everytime i see a bike in my rearview i slow up and roll the windows down just to listen to it as it passes by... bikes are definetly in my blood...
so now im waiting for the left clip on to come in the mail that i've put off ordering for 6 months and its like i have butterflies in my stomach for good and bad reasons... my girl is excited that she'll get to be my passenger again, but i told her i'd need at least a couple hours to make sure i feel comfortable enough to put her life in my hands again... that bike was the love of my life... i rode her everyday for a year and a half, thanks to the florida weather, and now im just hoping it all comes back to me... but for now, i'm waiting for the postman........

Man, I have never been through a wreck of the caliber that you described, however, you seem to be making the right choice. I would bet you learned a thing or two as a result of that crash, be it your fault or someone else's, it doesn't matter. You also obviously care about the safety of others because you are hesitant to saddle up again. So with those two thing put together, I would imagine you will be much more careful and safe the next time you throw a leg over. I say go for it when you are ready.

Yo my man, I had an accident as well. I hit a guard rail and flew off the bike about
30 feet but I'm still riding. It's hard at first because you tend to have a newfound respect for those things that were part of the accident which is my case is guard rails in curves. Give it time and you will ok also, I do the same thing when I see a bike coming by and that is to roll down the window to hear the engine........yes it's in the blood.
Ride on, ride safe
Always wear your helmet
