Question How fast in turns?

i never watch the dials when in a turn and so i am guessing this might be stupid question but how fast do you think you guys go in a turn in city streets. i ask this because i feel my rear wheel slipping sometimes when i am in a turn and think i might be going a little too fast (even though i think it's a reasonable speed). i felt both my wheels start to slip yesterday and was thinking if it had to do with my tires or my speed around the corner. my bike has about 3000 miles on it and the tires hasn't been changed...as far as i know (cuz i bought it from someone else). the funny thing is that the tires start to slip but then it holds on to the road again...i'm beginning to wonder if there are bad spots on my tires...but they look good to me....

your tires are probably still cold! your bike and tires can handle a lot more than you can give it on the street, you are probably ride about 10% of what your bike can do. some tires takes longer to warm up than others, i find it takes about 15-20 minutes of hard accelerating and braking in the street to get my dunlop to warmup.

I dunno about bad spots on a tire. Depending on the tire, it may not be well suited for your situation.

your tires are most likely cold and not up to their ideal running temperatures... hence why they start to slide. in city street areas, i tend to go with the flow of traffic and not try and stand out anymore than a sportbike does on its own. cops dont exactly like fast sportbike riders... especially within the city!! however, on backroads and a particular turn says 35 mph, 40 mph...etc. , i can typically take them at double the speed without any problem, but not something i do on a regular basis.

however, dont try and be racer Rossi on the street... theres no need for that. my back tire tends to slide a bit on the track... thats the fun part!!

If the tires are cold, thats probably your problem. If they are warm i would guess two things 1) this is your first bike and your suspension is giving you that queezy feeling or 2) you are going to damn fast for a city street

and things like antifreeze, oil, gravel, pavement irregularities, etc can all affect these things. if you can't tell what the tires are doing, and you think they may be slipping, odds are you should back it down.

deep.

has anyone ever seen this kind of slipping proven or scientifically (i.e. via geometry and/or physics) explained?

i, for one have not, and would love to see a fully explained presentation of it. the descriptions of how it works that i have seen posted here make very little sense, and seem like heresay to me (like someone heard some racer said it on a tv interview and told someone else who told their girlfirend who told them).

lol.
