Covering clutch and front brakes--
so... i've read a book by Nick Ienatsch and he recommends riders to cover their clutch and brakes with both index and middle fingers at all times... to cut the reaction time.
obviously if you got three fingers to throttle, it's kinda difficult sometimes..
so I wanted to know how many of you ride with your clutch and front brake covered at all times.
I generally cover them in traffic only...

Pretty much the same here. I really only cover when I anticipate a problem could appear.

I cover the brake at all times, and about 90% of the time I cover the clutch. It seems like a lot of extra effort at first, but after doing it for a while it becomes natural. Like most things on a motorcycle, when you first start you have to concentrate on them, and they are hard at first, but before long they feel like second nature.

To get in the habit, I have forced myself to ride covering both. I think it is a good habit, especially with the crazy cagers in my area. I finally got to run on our local 1/8 mile strip (7.4@101 ) & I found myself at the stage lights covering both...lol...felt awkward not covering them!

I cover both most of the time, unless it's wide open road. It did feel weird at first, but after getting used to it, I just don't think about it anymore. Just keep trying it out and you'll get used to it.

I do it all of the time. I just find it hard to go WOT, which is the only time I'm not covering the brake.

I'll cover the brake instinctively any time traffic gets a bit on the heavy side, or if I see a car that could pose a threat... I don't tend to cover the clutch, because that doesn't really slow you down. You can spare the .05 seconds to pull the clutch lever in, IMO. I tried covering the brake all the time, just felt too... Wierd. But for sure my fingers are very mobile on the levers, always going on and off depending on traffic.

that's what i do, i don't want to have the brake covered all the time and then hit a bump and have my finger put a little force on the brake or something...just give yourself a good cushion in traffic to have time to react - there are some dumb drivers out there...*cough..girls..*cough

On city streets I seem to always be covering and also on the freeway when it is busy. Out when I am relatively by myself, I normaly relax a bit and sometimes even put my left hand on the tank to relieve my back muscles. I prolly shouldnt be doing that...
