Default Full Crouch Position (arms)

So I'm playing around a bit with my full crouch position, trying to figure out just how far I can get behind the screen... The problem is, my long ass arms make it hard to tuck my elbows in, they have to go over my knees, which makes them stick out. Any tips for this? Or am I stuck being a tad too tall for my bike?

Being 6' with a 33" inseam, I had the same problem.

I usually just scoot back all they way on the seat which moves my knees back and allows my elbows to tuck in.

This is coming out of a turn, so I'm not quite all the way back yet, but you get the idea in this pic......

Exactly what nemisis said....You gotta scoot back...We are nearly the same build, I think I have about 10lbs on you in the stomach (Damn home cooked meals) and I just get my butt against the back and drop the elbows infront of the knees. Or if I am trying to keep weight on the front for a hard exit, I'll keep the elbows on top of my knees and deal with it

Hm... I'll have to give that a shot. Can't say it's optimal, because it makes it harder to shift with the different angle on your ankles, but it might work...

this is why a lot of guys swear by gp shifters. in that full crouch as you are upshifting it is a hell of a lot easier to bang your toe down than it is to get it under the shifter and pull it up. also when you you want to downshift you are generally sitting upright in a postion where it is easier to get your foot under the pedal and pull it up.

^ I concur with that....Well except when you are first getting used to it and you bang the shifter up to go from 1st to 2nd, dump the clutch and realize "Shit that's the wrong way" Good news is, I probaby did my best wheelie ever, bad news is, I sharted myself.

Enough humor, like nemisis keeps illustrating is exactly what I am doing now, when we was at the track I was toying with it but couldn't get it to feel right, now it's second nature. I wanna shave the hump outta my seat so I don't feel like I am sitting 6 inchs higher when I shift back.

Tried out the alternative body position tonight... Elbows are still on the outside of my knees. Damn my monkey arms...

its not as much that hes a rather tall chap but that it is proper riding posture.

he could hypothetically be sitting closer with legs more wrapped around the tank and arms over the legs like many do, but that is less adequate in high speeds and as to maneuverability.
