Default Body position on street vs. track

Refer to this thread if you would like.

I was told that I have pretty good form for on the street, but I was wondering how it would be any different for on the track. These are the only two things I could come up with:

1) Hang off the bike more

2) Stick your inside knee out more. - I try, but my pants are too tight and won't allow me to.

So, what's the difference?

when u hang off the bike u dont actually have to lean the bike over as far taking turns. i love hanging off the bike ripping around turns. im like practically laying on the ground. im waiting for the day my knee scrapes and i go down. thats the only difference i know of though. some turns though i dont hang off at all. like real tight fast twisties right behind my house. i go so fast through the turns it seems like shifting my bodt rom left to right to left to right and so on is more of a hassle than just hugging the bike tighly and leaning......heres a question to add as well. on my foot pegs u know the little post thingys that are on the bottom that are sposed to scrape when u lean it over so far.....well i took mine off so they wouldnt hit the ground....is that a bad idea? are the little post thingys sposed to be like a reminder that when they hit the ground to not lean over any further?

^^Good idea, on removing your long ass feelers. Sandeld, just "hang off" more when you're on the track, and remember to use your knee more as a gauge for lean angle. If your pants are too tight, uhh, well, couldn't help ya' there. Find something that is snug and allows for stretch.

Ha ha, that was an interesting post.... I didn't think you were supposed to shift in the middle of a turn, but I'm glad you didn't lose control. Thanks for the responses. I'm gonna go out and find some Jnco's now....

i shift in a turn and of course giving it some throttle (you want to accelarate faster out of a turn don't you? ) all the time on track and the same as a lot of the guys i know

I ride the same on track as on the twistie roads accept I try not to drop my knee as much on the street for the lack of knee sliders

Hanging way off isn't actually a bad street technique. The farther you position yourself off the seat, the less lean angle you use, and the more tire you've got on the ground... perfect for maximizing traction over tar strips, sandy spots, oil spills, etc.

It looks pretty damn silly cornering with the bike STRAIGHT up and down while hanging off like a monkey, but it's a great technique in the rain.
