Default Extra caution at night....

Just wanted to remind everyone when riding late at night to take extra caution at traffic lights. Had my first experience with a drunk driver (or just plain stupid). Was waiting on a light to make a left turn, wasnt in any hurry so I just put it in gear and was about to ease the clutch out when i noticed an older chevy caprice coming from the left. sure enough, just kept on rolling straight thru the red light. at least 5 seconds after turning red and he must have been well over 75 yards from the light. If i would have been in a hurry or just wanted to be a speed freak, i'd probably be road kill about now.

Good thing indeed. I am contactly observing my surroundings when there are cagers present. There's been a few times I have had to make emergency get outta there moves so I could dodge a cage.

well, the neighboring county is starting to install red light camera's at most of the big intersections, so hopefully my county will start to install them as well. catch some of these drunks/non-skillled drivers.

Heck, why restrict your caution to nights, watching for drunks?

A soccer mom in a giant SUV, talking on the phone, watching the kids, etc... is every bit as likely to "oh gee I just didn't see the motorcycle there...."

i meant take extra caution at night, because during the day riders may be a bit more alert as there is more traffic. in my situation there were only 3 cars in that intersection. durin the day there will be around 40-50.

I always do a quick check left and right before taking off when the light turns green. I do this day or night even when I am driving my truck. I DON'T TRUST ANYONE.
