California Superbike School (keith code)
First and foremost, Code is an arrogant prick. That being said, he runs a good school, mostly because he surrounds himself with REALLY good instructors. This is a GREAT school if you don't have much track experience. They keep it so structured, you really can't deviate from what they're trying to teach. Each session you work on one technique. They basically hold your hand through the whole thing. You get a LOT of instructor time. They have to spend a certain amount of time with each rider, so you're guaranteed that with them. But sometimes there's TOO much structure. If you DO have track experience, no matter how much you have, you still have to go through his "levels" in order. You can't jump into level 3 to learn how to slide without going through levels 1 and 2. That pisses off a LOT of people, he loses business because of it. The biggest downside I saw to this school was that he ONLY teaches his philosophies, and there is NO room for anyone else's. If he says "this is the best body position" he won't hear "well someone else said I should do this." PERIOD
STAR
This is by far my favorite school, I've done it 3 times. I'll give you the downsides first. This school is NOT structured. Sure, they do classroom sessions, then send you out on the track, but it's not like you're working on a particular technique, and the instructors aren't looking for a particular technique either. But for some, that's fine. Another drawback to being so "freeform" is that the instructors don't keep track of who they talk to and who they don't. You really do have to seek them out. But for someone who has more track time, and you want to work on some subtle techniques with a REALLY good staff, and a REALLY nice guy, in Jason Pridmore, this is the school for you. I fyou do STAR, you HAVE to do the 2-up ride. It's amazing.
I left tons of stuff out, but if you have specific quesitons, hit me up.
Eli
