knee down?
getting my knee down is much harder than i anticipated! i feel completely comfortable in my jeans and can ride much better with them than i can these leathers... with the leathers on, i have to sit way further back on the seat than im used to just to get my body off the bike. i dunno if im just putting too much pressure on myself trying to touch that knee down or what... i found myself making all kinds of stupid lil mistakes this morning. when im further back in the seat ( almost against the backrest ) the bike doesnt feel as stable as im used to which makes me put alotta weight on the bars. on the other hand if i sit in my normal position i can barely get half an ass check off the seat thanks to my new stomp grip! any pointers or advice?

wear the leather, break it in, and get use to good riding position in it. I went on a ride today...first time with my new suit. I did notice that I was sitting all the way back in the seat (I'm 6'2"), but it was so much more comfortable in a tucked position than sitting up with jeans and my jacket. It helped me keep weight off the bars, especially when I was riding on the balls of my feet. I was thinking about getting StompGrip about a month ago, but the leather is so sticky that I don't think I'll need it.

You shouldn't be putting weight on the bars as you know. I think maybe you just need to get used to the leathers it shouldn't affect you too much on how far you are forward or backwards. Find a good distance where you can lock in.
I had a hard time getting my knee down as well. Thinking it was b/c of my height or what have you. For me the hard part of getting the bike to lean over far is that you think you are going to run out of tread. I used to look at my back tire and think I really don't have that much tire left but not until I had someone film me did it make all the difference in the world.
See, we all think we are cranked over more than we are. After I saw myself and realized I had more lean to go I wasn't afraid to go further.

Um, wow. I felt the exact opposite with my leathers and have a real fear with riding with jeans.

Think you answered your own question, too much effort on trying to touch down and not enough on just riding the corner. You might need to break in your leathers, which i doubt that's the problem. Maybe your not going fast enough to use some more lean angle or like red_6 said, you might have a fear of losing grip on your tire, hence hindering you from leaning over far enough to drag your knee..

you should never try to touch the knee...when you are far enough over you will drag it. Stretching it out there screws with your body posistion and will cause you to be less in control.
Soon you will be like others on here trying to figure how to go just as fast with out tearing up those $45 sliders.

Can't say that I've ever drug knee... I've knicked it a couple times, but never drug it. However, having been behind guys that were dragging knee, and I was matching their speed in the corners (sometimes even gaining on them), I've decided to stop trying to drag knee. It's just not all that important. I hang my leg out, but not all that far... I'm more concentrated on getting the rest of my body position right. The knee will drag when it's ready to.

I had the same problem at first. After years of riding the street pretty aggressive when I decided to put on full leathers I felt restricted and unstable because of it. You do get use to it the more you ride in them.

Yeah, but I was the photographer, and the pics look a lot better with your knee down! You looked plenty fast without it though, I'll say that...
