Question Dragging knee at 10mph...

I found the following quote in the watercooler.

Quote:
It's not like you even have to go fast to get that low.. i dragged my pipe in a friends Cul-de-sac in bakersfield (bout the only way to drag knee there). I was only goin about 10mph making 20ft circles...
I was very intrigued cause I still have chicken stripes on my tires...so how the hell is this possible? Dragging knee at 10mph? I'd probably mess up my bike trying to do that.

Hell, you can drag knee at zero mph if your legs are long enough. But yeah, getting leaned that far over at 10 mph... Kinda doubtful. I can get maximum lean (not quite dragging knee, but observers said I was about 2 inches from it) at about 25, but that's about it. Bike feels really funny at that speed that far leaned over.

I have actually been practicing sub 30 turns in parking lots and can scrape my pucks like crazy! Look at the speeds the motogp guys were taking in turn 11 at seca, often it was in the low 30s with a knee down. I am going to get some pics of me doing this in a lot, it is tons of fun and has made my riding wayyyyyyyy better, plus if I crash it is not so devastating. The bike actually feels much less stable doing these low speed turns, if you master them higher speeds are cake! Your riding errors really make big differences at sub 30 speeds, mastering these turns is a good way to iron them out. 10 mph though, I think that is too slow and the bike does not steer properly.

I can drag my knee at 10 mph. I can drag my knee on a straight stretch.

It's actually easier for me to drag my knee slower than faster. When I want to play around and drag my knee on the streets I actually ride slower.

Yea but you are hanging off like a dingle berry from Ron Jeremy's Pimp Pole to do it there Trav...

Sure it's possible to do it...I wouldn't go try, the bike is beyond unstable that slow.

So long as you're accelerating through the turn, the bike should be stable enough. You need to be pretty smooth on the throttle, though, to avoid standing the bike up.

The bike would be so damn heavy at that speed. You'd almost have to hold it up with your knee. Man, that would be hard.

I'm thinking you'd have to be really tall with long legs and hanging off like a motherfu@#$*
