Does Your Neck Hurt In A Full Tuck?
Am I doing it wrong but I was riding for about 2 hours spread out with 30-40 minute intervals and I was in a full tuck looking through the windshield and every time, my neck started achin. Is this normal or am I doing it wrong? Is it even possible to stay in this kind of position for long or does everyone's neck hurt as well?

You should probably go to a chiropractor or a physio-therapist...thats the problem...

I can ride much longer sitting up than in a tuck. The weight of your helmet and head being held up while leaning so far forward is a lot of weight on your neck to hold up for so long. Sit up even at highway speeds you can ride much longer. Alternate putting weight on your hands or holding yourself up with your abdominal muscles. I sometimes ride on the tank for awhile to straighten my back but don't do that unless your comfortable sitting on the tank and very low traffic because you wont be able to brake hard unless you jump back onto the seat first.

What kind of helmet do you have? I only tuck if I am hauling ass, so I am not tucked that often. My neck used to hurt when I had a cheap ass helmet, but it is all good now.

Where is the pain? Is it in a pinpoint location or all of the back of your neck? Sounds like you are straining it or/and have a pinched nerve. Go to the doctor, s/he will probably give you some muscle relaxers. Before you go our riding, make sure you stretch your neck. And see about getting a lighter/better helmet.

Also, when you are tucking down, maybe you are cocking your head back so you can get a full view...I find that when I am tucking I try not to cock my head back, I just deal with the lack of view... who needs to see when going straight...

How long were you in this position. Hell if I can stand riding a long enough distance in a full tuck to get bad enough it hurts.

when u tuck... kinda point ur chin downward and look upward thru your helmet visor and through the windscreen and it wont hurt so much... in reality your muscles on ur neck are just going to have to get used to that riding position. that fact that they arent used to it is why your neck hurts so much... could also be that u have a cheap ass helmet and it weighs a ton.

I was just wondering about this recently myself as I remember recently seeing another thread asking what speed you go into a tuck. I find that I find it more comfortable to tuck when going over 60 and when its real cold (I ride in almost all weather). My neck usually gets sore when I haven't rode in a long time, but this past month its been hurting more than normal, so I am thinking maybe I just have something pinched (its a sharp pain right in the middle of the vertebre). Although I would imagine tucking in general it is a strain on anyones neck as the wind is blowing your head down and you are fighting it up (so you can see and not slam into the tank).
I don't find it necessary for a full tuck, I just think its comfortable as you can lay down on the tank. But in that position, you need to hold your head up the most. I have an expensive Arai helmet and I also have a racing screen which helps a lot too (so I don't think wind blast or poor helmet is the problem). Since I do like ducking, I recently found on a long trip a comfortable position where I ride with one hand on throttle and then the other hand holding that forearm (like a figure 4). The left forearm then lies on the tank and kind of props you up so you are in between up and a tuck. I can ride like that for a long time and because of the decreased angle, theres not as much strain on the neck. This doesn't really apply to shorter trips, like my 8 min ride to work, so I have just been dealing with the pinching.
