Default Head/body position while riding at speed

I want to ask about what riding position to adopt, and especially how to hold your head, while riding at hiway speeds. I've been starting to try and crouch down a bit after say 75mph or else my helmet gets blown around a fair amount. And then the MSF folks tout turning your head to check your blind spots while changing lanes, but when I try this I just get blown around a lot and really can't see much at all.

Does one need to crouch at normal (legalish) hiway speeds? Do you still turn your head to check before changing lanes?

How should one crouch anyway? Where should your elbows go?

Thanks for the advice!

Full tuck, head up under my windscreen, knees squeezing tank, elbows in, and the balls of my feet on the pegs instead of my heels.

I just remember who I pass and stay in front of traffic so I rarely check unless I am in doubt.

LMAO.....Full tuck at 75?!?! buahahahahahha you just made my day

Just ride, if your head is getting shook that bad, then you need to get used to it or get a db screen for your bike. Full tuck at 75 is just gonna draw attention to the bike on the streets.

I fully agree. I only full tuck under WOT exceleration and if just happens to be cold out side.

Try goin to the gym and working on your upper body strength. Since I started back I have noticed that I go into a full tuck until about 100-110mph range when Im cruising down the highway.

I don't bother tucking until about 120 or so, or if I'm under max acceleration. If your helmet is blowing all over your head, it's probably not fitting right. Get a better helmet.

Your helmet is too big. I tuck at around 75 as well, I am more comfortable that way because my chest is resting on the tank. Even when going fast I always look before changing lanes, dont turn your whole head around, turn it just enough to see if there is a car in your blind spot.
