Default High speed shifting question!

quick question guys... say when your doing like 80+ and you shift do you guys use your clutch and shift or do you just left off throttle and shift? Does it hurt the tranny when shift w/o using the clutch?

I just blip the throttle and shift. I haven't seen any negative effects. You should be fine doing this.

Hardly ever use the clutch anymore except from first to second. Doesn't hurt the bike.

at the strip i do all my gears clutchless, just blip the trottle and jam the shifter up fast.
it adds 1-2mph and gains me about .1 secs.

I pull the clutch in slightly, 1/2"or 3/4", just enough to make the shift. It helps to have your lever adjusted so there is not too much free play, you should have some.

do a search, but while im typing i might as well also add that clutchless upshifting isn't bad, but clutchless downshifting can be very detrimental.

You blip the throttle upshifting? I blip the throttle downshifting to match the revs, never upshifting. I roll off the throttle a tad to upshift withtout the clutch.

Edit: when I had my r6, I always performed clutchless shifts high on the tach without problem. Low on the tach, was almost wierd with no load and found it to be a P.I.A.

Never did cluthless downshifts.

I clutchless shift when I am accelerating as fast as possible. When cruising I use the clutch.
