Default Helmet obstructs view while in full tuck

So something I've noticed, and been very annoyed by, is how I can't really get in a full tuck on the 6 because my helmet (KBC VR-1) comes down in front of my eyes when I try to get all the way down behind the screen. Is there any cure to this? Are the higher-end helmets (Arai, Shoei) designed around this delimma? I thought briefly about shaving some of the foam off the back of the helmet so it wouldn't get pushed forward by the collar of my suit anymore, but that strikes me as a spectacularly bad idea.

Any hints?

How tight does it fit? Does it move sideways when you turn your head on the highway?

If it's loose, you should probably go a size down...if it isn't loose, I don't know what the problem is. I could see through the screen with the stocker on. It's even easier with a DB.

I've got the same problem. I thought maybe it was because of my height and how I had to arch my back to get behind the stock screen.

No, it fits quite well. I think the problem is partly that the top edge of the front opening is a bit too low, and also that the back of the helmet sits low enough that when I tuck, it comes up against the collar of my suit (or jacket) and pushes the helmet forward slightly. I can get tucked, but not as low as I'd like, i. e. looking directly through the screen.

EDIT* I'm a little taller too, about 6' even, so my back is arched a bit, but not THAT much... I've tried adjusting where my ass is on the seat, but to no avail. If I'm just cruising in a straight line, I can take my left hand off the bar and put it under my chin bar, and rest my hand on the steering stem nut, and then I can get behind the screen. But that's not exactly the best position for riding...

Not being in full tuck will not effect your lap times enough for you to notice

i have both a kbc and a shoei. the difference is night and day between the two as far as visibility goes. the top of the shoei doesn't come down near as far as the kbc so you can see out of it when your head is tucked down (which is what i think you are describing).

I have the same helmet and have no problems. Either your helmet is too big or you have a wierd shaped head.

One quick fix is to put you left arm on the tank and rest the bottom of your helmet on your arm. It will hold the helmet up. I am guessing your helmet is not the right size.

I have the same helmet that I bought as a back-up to my Arai Signet. I have the same problem. The helmet fits fine and works well except in a full tuck. Actually KBC addresses the issue with their VR-2 race helmet. They describe a "cut away forehead aspect" on their web page. FWIW, I have no problem with visability with the Signet, so it's not riding position.

I think what he means is the area in front of his forehead is in his line of sight when tucked. Mine is the same way(AGV X-Vent)

I think it's more head shape and where you wear your helemt on your head more than helmet size. My X-Vent fits great but I wear it down on my forehead a little bit.

its also your jacket collar. thats one reason race suits dont have collars like jackets do.
