Default Favorite On Ramp

I have an on ramp to the expressway that is really fun. the problem is that there is a crack in the pavement that agravates the front tire a bit while in the corner....is this dangerous? It has never made me feel like i was going to lose control of the bike or anything but it deffinitely breaks traction for a second, wobbles the handlebars then goes back down. im wondering if i should be taking it easy on this on ramp because of this, or if i should be worried about encountering this on an unfamiliar on ramp, or corner for that matter.

i wouldn't worry about it. there are some ripple in the pavement on some of the tracks i ride. if it doesn't upset the bike then don't trip. it just makes it more fun

On ramps and off ramps are some of the most dangerous area to play. When car with leaking engine oil, transmission fluid or what not, leakages are concentrated. Even after cleaned, the surface usually absorbed sufficient amount to be slippery. When mishap occured, there is usually guard rail awaiting. Back off and take your bet to play in other places.

smokedawg,

IF YOUR SUSPENSION IS SET UP PROPERLY, and your riding technique is good, a crack in the pavement shouldn't be an issue. Get that suspension set up well, ask some of the local guys how, or pick up some magazines, OR check out the how-to section here. As for technique, don't strangle the bars, stay nice and loose on them. Let the bike sort out the bumps, that's what the suspension is there for. If you try to correct yourself, or tense up on the bars, you elinimate some of the bike's ability to deal with bumps.

It's already been said, but on/off ramps are some areas I try to take it easy when I'm riding...

Eli

My favorite off ramp is the exit where my favorite track is located.....
