Default Leaning in Town

I'm not afraid to lean my bike over if I'm cutting a corner too fast, but in town there's a few things that bug me. On some left turns with bumps (not too big) my back tire sometimes loses traction and slides a bit and regains traction. Then earler today I felt it lose traction as I made a right turn over those crosswalk stripes. As soon as I passed it, it regained and I went on.

I know this can't be normal because I see other sportbikes taking corners in this town much faster then I do. Mine can be compared to car speed and sometimes slower. I have not checked my tire pressure (picking up a guage tomorrow on the way to the office) but what could cause this? Just riding on my behalf or something with tire/shocks/etc? My stock tires only have 3500 miles on them and seem to be in good shape so I couldn't imagine that as the problem.

Just remember that famous GP racer Mick Doohan's career was finished because of a painted line.

Those paint strips can be very dangerous. I would use caution over them.

set your suspension up for yourself and don't push it until your tires are hot.

Hooli is right- I avoid those crosswalk stripes whenever possible, and if I can't, I ride like a grandmother. Those suckers are slick. I've had my fill of low-sides, thanks. >:

I dropped my bike off for my 4000 mi service today and asked them to take a look at the pressure and suspension. If it doesn't feel right I guess I'll have to dick with the suspension myself. I feel comfortable working on my car but there's too many safety issues with the bike and I don't want to mess with it until I learn mor about it, nothing like crashing from your own ignorance.

I'll start avoiding the stripes more often now and hopefully stop sliding my ass end out =cP

I'd also watch for oil spots in town. That's where you'll find them!
