Default How dooes everyone drag their knee....

I've looked at many GP, WSB & AMA riders, I noticed that some ppl hang way off the bike, others hang off the bike but hug the gas tank.

What do you do?

In general, you don't need to hang way off.

let's say a left turn. Best way is to rotate your hips to the left around the tank, turning your left shoulder with the torso, right thigh pressed into the right side of the tank. Left elbow tucked in, right elbow on the right knee as you're off the to the left side of the seat. Body low on the tank. Left shoulder pointing forward, head up, and head over the left handle bar. Left knee out. Not necessarily in that order...

Walla! Less complicated than a good golf swing. And easier to learn.

Three good examples. Rossi does not tuck his elbow, but he's not human. Duhamel hangs way off, too far for us mere mortals and is most likely overkill. Looks cool though!

I try to just hang one butt cheek off the seat and stick my leg out...and lean the bike over until my knee touches down.

Schizoid,
Not be be a jerk but I think the question was how does everyone drag their knee. Not whether you need to do it or what the best way is. Like I said he was just wondering how everyone else does it.

Anyways... to anwser the question I am a tank hugger.

Ummm yeah I did read his post as a matter of fact I read all of them, and it started out by saying "In general, you don't need to hang way off".
His question was "what do you do"? Not what is your advice on how to do it etc. He went off on what the best way is. And he never once anwsered "how he himself drags his knee". He just gave advice on what the best way was. I mean damn the guy just wanted to know what you do?

Well since we all don't have camera men following us around, and words rarely do a good job of depicting exact body position in comparison to a moving motorcycle, I doubt he only meant "How exactly do you put your body in postion to drag your knee off of a moving motorcycle?" Schizoid provided pics, as well as narrative on how many professional riders position their bodies. Granted, it wasn't an in depth critique, but it served the question asker's purpose in a short period of time. Maybe he didn't give a picture of the way he does it because maybe he doesn't drag his knee, maybe he doesn't even have a motorcycle, he just likes the sport and likes to understand the styles and postures involved. So no, there was no need to be a jerk as you said, and while I'm at it, I think he did a better job with his post, than you did with your "I hug the tank" or whatever.
