Default Turning tips!!

I am new at riding. Everytime I turn I always go into the far lane. Is there anything that I can do to prevent that from happening?

Get away from traffic first off. Go somewhere you can practice turning without cager's coming at you. You are not leaning the bike or you are going to fast into the turn. You bike is lowered so it won't handle like a bike that is at stock height. Be careful that's a bad way to end up as a hood ornament. Get an experience rider to help you out and give you some person to person help. We can't see what you're doing wrong and you might not know you're doing it.

either have a more experience riding ride in front of you and just stare at his back or ass and you wont hit the far lane.

i know this works in the twisty when i follow the lines of a experience rider.

or like cever say, get away from traffic and practice, practice, practice.

i had trouble when i first got my bike, turning one-two lanes over, now its like nothing. just takes time and practice.

Where you look, is where your bike will go.

I would go find a large parking lot and practice slow speed turning. Work on looking where you want to go. Also work on controling your throttle. Figure out how much power you will need to make a turn at a given speed. Also practice braking that way you know what your bike will do if you have to stop with a quickness. Basically just practice. Trust your bike....it can handle the turn. You need to learn to trust yourself.

When my g/f got her first bike (sv650) she rode around in a empty parking lot for a couple of hours just to get used to slow turns and braking. She also practiced taking off uphill (we have lots of hills here). Hope all this helps!

I live in the city so that is kinda hard to get away but as for the turn I somehow get nervous or something and I always go straight towards the curb or soemthing. I wish i knew what I was doing wrong maybe I am not looking enough?

Lean off the bike. Swival around the tank.

Push harder on the bar that is the same side as the way you want to turn. This is called counter steering. IE: if you are turning right push the right handle bar away from you.

Look where you want to go. Look around/through the turn.

Ride on the balls of your feet on the pegs not the center of your feet.

Remember that your bike can lean far enough over to drag the pegs on the ground and still stay up and keep traction, so it can turn a lot harder than you can make it right now so you shouldnt fear leaning it harder.

Using the brake will straighten the bike up causeing you to head into curbs. To looking through the turn will cause this. Your head should be turned the way you want to go. Try looking at the solid painted line on the inside of the turn but up ahead a ways.

WHAT...

You mean to tell me carlos didn't teach you that.

Here is the key ivonne, LOOK WHERE YOU WANT YOUR BIKE TO GO.

When you're about to make a right/left turn plan ahead how you're going to take it, and how you're going to position the turn.

^^^^

Keep that in you head while you're turning, and it will be a piece of cake, watch carlos see how he does it, than follow his exact patch

you'll get the hang of it in an hour

I'll try looking.... I know that I am suppose to look but the only think is that I feel like the bike might fall.
