Default Holeshot Help

It's been a while since I have been in the Street racing scene but I was out messing around with another R6 and a FZR 600, Well to make a long story short, This FZR Kicked our asses off the line and it was difficult keeping up after he had such a lead..

We were 3 wide at a red light on Rt 7.anxiously waiting for the green, We were neversouly looking behind us for cops... when I new the moment was about to come:

I revved up to about 7 Grand and starting letting the clutch out to get the tire to grip in...anyways..my back tire started to spin so I eased off the gas and then the light turned green, by the time I gave it gas again, my RPM's were down at 4 grand then were pulling up, The FZR Was about 5-6 bikes lengths ahead of both of us out of the hole...

I know the Holeshot will make or break you in a race or in Time trials, I see the difference between 2 amature racers and this guy that raced every weekend. Though I would beat the other R6...this FZR was FOOKN UGLY and really made us look bad..

Picture this Dirty Yellow Tank and fairing, Brake dust crudded "ORANGE" wheels, yes orange! and the motor was out of a junkyard, it had the word "Good" on it..indication that the motor was good. The clutch was so stiff, it was like trying to squeeze one of those hand excersise equipment thingyezz..

What is the secret to launching without lifting? Is spinning out of the hole better?

I use to race on another bike (Honda Nighthawk 700s)
and I used to race this ex500...we raced a few times and I beat him by a bike or two...He then proceeded to by "Full" Muzzy exaust and a Stage 2 jetkit, he was sure he was going to beat me, Right before we raced I watched as some other Gixxsers were racing. They leaned forward, hung there legs out and some how launched the bikes very well...so I thought to myself I will try that...

When it was our time to race, I leaned forward, stuck my legs out and slipped/popped the clutch, I sh*t you not, I beat the ex500 by 7 Bikes lengths... They guy was so pissed...he thought I had done some mods..all I modded was my driving.

I am a beliver in the launch but I never figured out how to do it on a True Sport Bike...

Any Suggestions or Similiar stories???

p.s. I already read the post on "Launching the Bike" but I was looking for more real world experience.

Default i always launch at torque peak + 1000rpm or so

keeps the engine from bogging down
street racing is always iffy
surfaces change each mile never the same

1st lite you will lite off good...... next
the dang thing stands up on ya

you are workin with a lot of rpm
so unless you are in the upper 35%
you are in the wrong place

important thing is to have yoiu revs going foward
when you dump your clutch
yes the lean helps a lot
concentration is key..... on the street way toooo
distractions right..... we wuz lookin 4 the cops

really dont recommend stoplite gto
unless you are in a familiar area
like a service road out to an industrial area
off peak hours
