Default Tank-Slappers

I've been surfing trough the older topics and found a big amount of people fearing the TANK SLAPPER monster. I'll by buying a steering damper soon because it happens to me like...3/4 times a week?? This is my first road bike, I had 3 dirt bikes before. If you ride in the dirt on full throtle you will quickly realize that the front is a live animal, just let it shake, just point the bike away of the trees...

In the R6 I can't accelerate on bad pavement (and there's nothing but that around here) without having a headshake. I wouldn't say you get used to it, thats wy I'm buying a steering damp, but when it happens you just let it go, you have no chance on controling it. The last one I had, big fukin bump, it was like hell. The bike threw itself around and the front tyre squid the tarmac while beeing shaked.

It's a monster, but hopefully you will get away with most of them.

carefull, they're here...

You'll love the damper. You gettin a Scott's? That's what I got. Immediatly after putting it on I went out for a ride and you notice the difference right away. I purposley tried to shake the bike to get to wiggle a bit, and nothin would happen! It was great. That 3/4 times a week thing (which is a shit load) will be reduced to 1 or none. Enjoy it

I'm getting the Ohlins. I've never seen the Scotts here in Portugal, but they sell it about 600 USD while the Ohlins is about 400 USD (I've converted the Euros).

I installed my Ohlins last week and WOW what a difference. The bike was transformed instantly. It feels like it tracks better over bumps and imperfections. Also riding on the highway (New Jersey's are full of little bumps and ripples) is so much more comfortable. My wrists feel better. The Ohlins looks better IMO. And I like that there's no wiggle room before it "engages". The basic ten click setting is perfect for the street and took no getting used to. The bike just goes where I point it, even weaving through NYC traffic on bumpy roads. Make sure you set up your suspension. That makes a huge difference as well.
