Default target fixating on gravel

Hey, I know there's a huge post on target fixating, but I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on a particular situation.

I know that you're supposed to look where you want to go, but I don't feel safe looking through a corner that has some gravel on it. I'm worried that I'll hit the gravel 'cause I'm not paying attention. So I look at the gravel, and end up practically crawling around the corner (and feel like a tool). Any tricks to avoid this?

thanks.

well... you could always look where there is no gravel...

seriously, that what you have to do. sweep the whole turn to see where there is no (or less) gravel and choose that path. slow down a bit, you don't want to be full leaned. stay focused on the exit. the bike can take some of the gravel in his path. the front/rear might seem loose but that's ok as long as there is more tarmac than gravel around.

Thanks Barbat.
I think you've helped me identify the source of my terror. It's that I have no concept of how much gravel/sand the bike can handle - and needless to say I don't want to find out the hard way. I'll keep your advice in mind and try to focus on the clean path.

cheers!
