Default Alert others to cops? Common courtesy?

Hey, I'm wondering if anyone else tries to alert others to the presence of cops? For example, if you're riding on a divided highway and see a cop gunning people coming the other direction is there a hand signal or something you give to let the people who are riding into the speed trap know that there is something ahead?

I used to flash my brights in my car to alert people, but no one else seems to do this anymore. Is there a common signal or something to tell people they are riding towards a cop?

if its a motorcyclist...AND they are wearing gear (i dont talk/communicate with squids period) i will very much so get there attention, hand out with "the wave" and then tap my helmet and/or flash my lights.

if they have been riding for any amount of time and have paid attention to their riding rather than their ego they would know what tapping the helmet meant.

^ +1 when me and my friends ride, whomever is riding in front taps on their helmet to signal us that there is cops ahead. and then the signal is repeated by everyone to acknowledge that the gesture has been seen.

natedogg thats funny, wen i see squids riding around my town (n most of them are squids!) i hesitate on waving or anything, unless they do it first and then i wave back. i dont know y.. i feel like a hater at times! but the squids here are bad..t-shirts, tanktops, basketball shorts, sandals! i mean i kno its there skin but still ..no gear at all.

I always give a nice tap to let people know that theres police in the area. Also, I been giving false taps to keep other riders at bay.

I also carry my badge when i ride now. Some of my riding buddies asked me to do this to scare some squids away. lol

its because all of you are haters. why do you have to judge people so much. i myself wear my gear all the time but when its 100+ outside i will wear a tshirt or beater. i notice more and more how much riders are becoming jerks amongst each other. from now on instead of waving im just gonna stick my middle finger at you guys when i dont wear my gear since i know how u think.

wear my gear all the time. no matter how hot.

the road rash will feel even better in the heat so i've heard...

"if you can't handle the heat, then get out of the kitchen"

seriously if its so hot for you to wear gear, buy a car, get a ride, or wear some underarmour underneath.

when you see someone you know suffer from horrible looking road rash due to his own stupidity and that image is imprinted in your mind before every ride, you'll think twice about not putting on gear no matter what the weather is.

I myself being an ex-racer and have hit the pavement alot in my time I wear my gear MOST of the time, HOWEVER due to some old injurys I am unable to move the best in my shoulders, so on very hot days my leather jacket gets hard for my self to move in, so I have a back protector and elbow pads on with a t-shirt on. I will show respect to ALL riders no matter what they wear, They are dealing with the same shit I am on the road and gear or not if you go down it is going to hurt and you could die that is what makes this sport so bad, so every time that some one doesn't wave back at me I give them the finger NO MATTER WHAT WE ALL HAVE TO LOOK OUT FOR OUR SELVES if we want to wear a t-shirt than do it it is your choice RIDE ON
