yeah, i'm getting the hang of doing this right and it's not only fixing the hand issue but drastically improving my low-speed cornering now that the front wheel is free to turn with the bike.

Like everyone els has said. Take the wait off your arms. Really, the only pressure you should be using on the handle bars is to counterstear the bike.

i think nicky said something like "grip the bars like our holding a bird. not to tight so it'll be crushed, and not to loose so where it can get away."

I experienced this problem for a little while when I first started riding. I moved my hand more inward on the handlebars and the numbness stopped. If you keep your hand out too far it takes more effort to twist the throttle so that could possibly be your problem.

^funny i find it more comfortable for my hands to be on the outer edge of the grips. half of my hand is covering the barend while the rest is on the grip. i feel i get better control out there (more leverage...think about it) the numbness isn't an issue nor is the throttle control effort

to each his own i guess

if your bars are vibrating that your hands are getting numb and you think you have the proper posture you might want to check into getting your carbs/throttle bodies synched up.

or cheat and just get heavier bar ends and pretend there isn't a problem

I have been riding for years and had the same old set of gloves for a long time now with NO numbness or tingling of any kind. I just bought a new pair and they are a little tight for me, my first ride to work and I lost all feeling in my right hand.... WOW... I soaked my new gloves in water before the ride home to make them grow alittle bit. It was a lot better ride home and again later that day.. Anyway.. the new gloves fit Great when I'm off the bike, but when I got on and bent my wrist they were very tight around my wrist area. So check your gloves or try an old pair to see what happens and how you feel... just my $.02...

I have a similar problem, just with my left hand, I got in an accident back in december and it left me with some nerve damage in my right arm, but i can still ride fine, but with my right arm being really weak, i compensate with my left arm so more pressure gets put down, but like everyone else is saying, using your legs and abs to keep yourself upright will help, the less pressure on your wrists the better.

Yeah, i too had that problem on my old Fzr 400, but it was also in part due to the fact that there was a problem with pipe. I suggest making sure there isnt something on the bike thats in part causing it, then after that just make sure your circulation is good and not too much weight being held with your hands. Good luck!

I just picked up my first bike (2005 R6) about a month ago. I have ridden it everyday (what can I say its my drug) and I too at first had the numbing in my right hand and tingles in my left. I first figured I can rest my left when riding but not so much the right. I realize now that my problem was a combination of factors. I first read to squeeze the tank with the knees and use the abs to hold my-self up right more than weighting my wrists. Did that and it was an improvement (could go longer/further before the pain and numbness). I then figured I needed to adjust my clutch and front brake levers because I noticed my wrist was bent slightly. So I adjusted them down today to where my wrist was straight (as if I was punching somebody ) and rode a pretty good distance. I had zero pain and no numbness. Its just my newb $.02 but hope it helps.
