Question What will void the factory warranty?

In the warranty information for the 2006 R6 it notes the following.

General Exclusions from this warranty shall
include any failures caused by:

a. Competition or racing use
b. Installation of parts or accessories that are not
qualitatively equivalent to genuine Yamaha parts.
c. Abnormal strain, neglect or abuse.
d. Lack of proper maintenance.
e. Accident or collision damage.
f. Modification to original parts.

So the question is, if I install a part such as Woodcraft engine case covers would I be voiding my factory warranty in general or would the installation only void the warranty if the installation of the covers directly caused a failure of another part? If the later, would it void the whole warranty or just the coverage for the affected part(s)?

Would such a piece as a Woodcraft engine case cover be considered "Installation of parts or accessories that are not qualitatively equivalent to genuine Yamaha parts."? They are beautifully crafted pieces and fit just as accurately as the Yamaha standard engine case covers.

Has anyone had any experience with this type of item when it comes to warranty issues?

Thanks for any and all replies!

The covers would not affect the engine warranty unless the covers themselves caused a failure.

Lemme get this straight...

The warranty OF A BIKE BUILT TO BE RACED is voided if you race it.

Yeah... my dealer told me track use of any kind voids the warranty. But I see here it says RACING. So i dont think track days void it.

As for aftermarket parts... I think they are just saying you cant go buy a cheap CNC machine and try to make your own cam's. It has to be an actual "professional" company making parts for your bike.

But they leave these kinds of open statements so they can claim something wasnt to par with a yamaha part.... to get out of repairing stuff.

Yessirree.
If a rider is in a position to win a race, will he suddenly slow down on the last lap because he feels he might be treating his bike a little too roughly to stay in front?
Or, would his natural instinct be to keep pouring it on, even if he were to suspect something might be slightly amiss with his bike?

Plus, as hi-tech as the 2006 YZF-R6 is, it's still sold to be used on the street.

It's been the same case with Yamaha YZ motocross bikes for as long as I've been familiar with them (since my first one in 1984):
Although no other manufacturer from Japan will offer a written warranty for their motocross bikes (Yamaha YZs carry a factory warranty for 30 days), the warranty is supposedly voided if the bike is actually raced.

If you've been to a motocross race to watch top riders ride, you know that some of those guys are outright brutal on their equipment and don't worry about riding it very hard, indeed.
For a manufacturer to offer a warranty in this environment would be quite something.
