Default Loose shock linkage?

Yesterday I took my '07 r6 to a performance shop and had the suspension setup for my riding style and weight. Very early in the process they noticed that my shock linkage had 2 points that were visibly loose. When they picked the rear of the bike up so the rear tire was completely off the ground you could visibly see two of the bolts rocking back and forth in the linkage joint. They measured the free play and there was 3mm of free play in the entire linkage/shock system.

My bike has only 1400 miles on it, so I doubt this is normal wear and tear.

Has anybody else experienced this early in the life of their r6?

In case anybody is curious...

I took my bike to the dealer over the weekend. He measured the linkage free play against 2 r6's on the showroom floor. The linkage on the new r6's had the same 3mm of free play as mine, so apparently there is no real issue here.
