Default extended warranty transfer

got my 06 r6 about a month ago used from a private seller.
he bought the bike new with the complete extended warranty coverage for 4 extra years.
thing is when i went to my local yamaha dealer, they said they must look at my bike and test ride it? to make sure it can be transferred. does this sound right?

this is basically a trust issue..i never let the stealership touch my cars or bikes.
i do everything myself or have my own mechanic look at stuff for me.

anyone else had the same experience?

Ride it or not, the warranty information CLEARLY states that the warranty is FULLY transferable and at ANY dealership.

Sounds like typcial stealership BS to me. Its a clear contract on the warranty there is no reason at all for them to even touch your bike for the warranty to transfer. My advise: find a different dealer becuase sounds like they just want to screw you over. And if they drop you bike or wreck you may end up SOL.

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard...what the hell does riding YOUR motorcycle have to do with transferring the warranty you assumed when purchasing the machine (idiots)? Even if there was something wrong with the bike (which is the only reason I can think of as to why they'd want to test ride it), it's still covered regardless of whose name the warranty is actually in. The main benefit of transferring the warranty to your name and address is having any possible recall or FDM notifications sent directly to you.

If you want, PM me, I can transfer your bikes warranty to your name and address through Yamaha in about 3 minutes. I've been a service manager for quite some time and have tried to help keep anyone on this board from getting screwed by "not-so-upstanding" dealers.

PM me and I'll fix ya up ASAP.
