Default is the extended warranty worth it?

hey guys so i'm about to get my bike this coming sunday and I worked out a price with the dealer, but he's now offering me the extended warranty which I hadn't thought of. He's selling it for $499 after dropping it $100.

Is it worth it? I'm getting a new 07, don't want anything to go wrong, but if it does I'd want to be covered. However, if it's not THAT beneficial, I'd rather avoid it and save $500. What do you guys think?

Find out if the warranty is based on unlimited mileage and find out specifically what it covers. Usually extended warranties cover very little, most of which is stuff that will never ever fail.

I didn't pay for it when I got mine.

hm ok. i initially said no, and that's why he lowered it $100. but after I hung up I thought about it and wondered if I really did need it. I told him I might get it so he added it to the bike total, which I can always remove. I'm leaning more towards not getting it...

I would not get it. I did not get it and never needed it, and most dont.

Anything that is going to go wrong with the bike that is covered will most likely go wrong within the first couple months and you'll be covered by the factory warranty.

well now i'm kinda wondering if it was a bad decision because of the motor problems that the 06's have been getting. i'm hoping it doesnt come around and hit me too a year or 2 down the road...

I just bought an 07 r6 about two months ago and I did get the extended warranty I paid the extra 600 dollars for a total of 5 years of warranty. This was one of my biggest purchases and would have been uneasy if something did happen to it. I think it was a small price to pay for a little peace of mind. Plus I know it will be a great selling point 2 to 3 years down the road when I try to sell it because its transferable. Even if nothing ever goes wrong with the bike I feel better knowing I had the warranty. Enjoy your bike I know I am.
