Default K&N Air Filter debate

Hey everyone. Alright I have heard tons of things about the K&N filter. I have a 2001 R6. Most of the conversations talk about getting a power commander to allow more fuel because of the increased air intake. If that is true, than will it be different since my bike has a carburetor?

I have an 05, bought the K&N and heard the same stuff, so never installed it lol. Just collecting dust in the house

I did testing with the K&n on the 99-02 and the results were not very good. The BMC filter worked much better. In fact the stock filter worked better on the 2002 we tested

Now on the 03-05 the K&N made more power then the stock filter.
